A hunter is spoiled for choice these days and I hope it stays that way after this Covid-19 nonsense.
As an ex full time PH and Outfitter this is what I would suggest to ask yourself?
Will this be your one and only trip and do you plan future once?
If it is going to be your possible one and only trip try to save longer stay longer and do some sightseeing before or after your hunt. Make it worthwhile to travel the long way have more time to enjoy relax and expereince Africa
Are you hunitng for the book or experience?
Hunting for record book animals is hard work to some and a challenge to others. I'm not talking of small animals when not hunting for the book but at least good representatives with some luck also bagging ones that make the book?
Other option for experience only is to go after management animals, you usually get a lot of bang for your buck.
Do you want to bring back trophies?
It is not cheap no matter how you look at it and a lot of first time hunter will make mounts out of all the animals. If you need to take all home get it dipped and packed you can always mount if you want to or do a euro mount only.
You coukd take time and take nice photos or get someone to film your hunt and do the photos.
What is your list of animals you really want?
Reason for the question if you are hunting far north in RSA next to the Limpopo and Zim border and you want to add a springbuck to your list it a long drive to find one in its proper enviroment. A lot of hunters think all the species inhabit the same areas. While game farming has definitely put more species onto one area it might not ne their natural environment.
All outfitters will gladly build you a package for your desired species even if he doesnt have a package for the pecies.
It's a buyers market just don't force a deal too hard they still have to make a living.
Some places are restricted with tight quotas and some not so on their numbers.
