So I was riding home from work today with my wife and the comment was made about toys I had purchased. We were talking about powder and not shopping in stores for it right now. I commented how I was looking for some 760 and how it was a good powder for .375's. "We don't have a .375 do we?" "No honey we don't have A .375." "You don't need a gun for safaris, just one big enough for deer." "So what's big enough for deer? What's too big for deer? Is a .458 too big?" "I don't know." I smiled inside. Then I told her I have several .375's. She said, "Well you don't need an elephant gun." "How big is an elephant gun?" "I dunno." "Is a .375 or .458 an elephant gun?" "Mmm mmm." Well that's good. So the two cases of .458 Lott labeled Nosler Safari that came completelyin two months ago are completely forgotten. Not to mention the pseudo look alike Ruger No. 1 that is not so blue and oh so stainless. I'm sure she probably knows, but I'm loving how dumb such a smart woman is playing.

It's amazing how smart they can be. Just remember how to play it when a new purse or shoes come home...

My wife knows about the toys and doesn’t care! I show them to her, I tell her what they cost and all she says is “ what do you plan to shoot with that one?” Why she even went out and bought me beautiful classic leather show case for my double a couple of years back. It’s a beautiful thing to behold. When I told her my airline approved rifle case was not really the best thing for the double she said I should have a custom case made for it...so I did. I love my wife!

I'm one of the lucky ones as well. My darling wife just says do you really need it.
I usually say no but I'd like it.
Answer, if that's what you want and can't get it off the shelf I suppose Rob Spittles (My gunsmith) will have to build it.
It's her way of saying good I will be able to Jess ,Robs wife. Luckily my wife and Jess are great friends. A very handy arrangement when you want to see your gunsmith. Five custon guns guns so far.
Fellas make sure your wife becomes friends with your gunsmith wife life is a lot easier.
Cheers
Bob Nelson

We don't really discuss our toys too much. She really doesn't care. Sometimes she laughs and rolls her eyes at me. We were having a conversation about getting a bigger safe the other day. I said that we'd probably need to get rid of one of the existing to make room. She said no just get another one that's even bigger. To think that she only came to me with her own Glock 26 and an AR... I'm a big fan of hers. She can have the purses and shoes if she likes. I've got all the rifles I could ever need. It's nice to chase wants.

After several marriages, now I just foster women until they go to their forever home. ;)

That way I don't have to account for how much money I spend on my toys, and it is cheaper in the long run.

Genius.

I am one of those blessed with a wonderful wife. Not only does she lets me hang my dead stuff on the walls of the house (except her bedroom), she doesn't mind me buying guns. When I show her something she tells me, can we afford it (which means paying cash), and I say ma'am, and 9 our 10 she replies "buy it, you work hard for your money".

When I got divorced, I had to give my wife 50% of the resale value , in cash, of all my toys if I wanted to keep them. Since this happened during the great recession of 2009, I didn't have enough cash to cover it. Guess what happened?

Cherish your wife, if she is a good one. Mine wasnt.

You sold them all to your brother for a dollar a piece? You gave them away to a young hunter? You lost them in a boating accident? No need to guess. Sad tale indeed.

We have a 375 and are getting a 416 so the priority right now is not going bigger.
She sees me looking at AH and checks my internet history (it's all gun porn).
Then comes to me and asks "Why exactly don't we have a 6.5x55SE?"
Followed closely by "Would a 264WM be better?"
Even better "How do you feel about a Blaser K95?"

Yeah, I've got a keeper.
And more gun savvy then most men I know...it's scary sometimes.

My wife isn’t into guns or hunting. She’s into sewing and quilting. The cost of a double rifle as I’ve seen here on AH, doesn’t hold a candle to the price of a quality “long arm” quilting machine. She bought a floor model at a very good price awhile ago, so doesn’t complain about me buying a rifle or handgun now and again. I guess the give and take theory is working for us. Maybe more CZ 550s or Whitworths in my future? Ha! Ha!

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
