How long will Texas remain conservative?

God forbid a liberal move in next to you. Those sons of bitches might even make you a week worth of lasagna when your wife is in the hospital or cut your grass when you have knee surgery :S Rant: :A Whacky::A Whacky::A Whacky:
Or try and poison you with that Lasagna, if you put a Trump sign in your yard.

I use to drop a bottle of red wine off for Christmas to everyone in my culdesac, but no one ever reciprocated. Boulder born and raised to my north. Californian to my south. Vegetarian across the street. Anti hunter behind. I think I’m in the wrong place and not them even though I was here years before any of them.
In my mid 70s, I have never had any of their kids nor them offer to shovel snow, mow lawn, nor help haul tree limbs. Not even putting my trash can out.
When any let me know they will be gone on a trip, I always offer to take their trash out to the street. Just a polite thing to do IMO.

The city people do the same thing when they move to the country. The squatters buy small acres and build a big fancy house. Than they want a rural fire department to lower their insurance. They want leash law because some farmers dog chased them on their bicycle. The bitch about a cow that's out. Want the sheriff hanging around more. Pretty soon the country just like town. The country is just getting more urbanized. We are becoming more like Europe and there is no stopping it.

Add not voting, then it sounds like a heck of a deal...

@curtism1234
If they are that nice I might have to teach them to reload so they can do it for me after shoulder surgery. I would have to supervise of course to make sure they actually put the powder in the cases.

My second home is in Hill Country , Texas ( I attained dual citizenship in the United States approximately 25 years ago ) . Now , even I am getting worried .

With Joe Biden and Kamala Harris running the show now , things do look bleak for the foreseeable future . Kamala Harris has been making more than a few public claims about how “ Meat is destroying our planet “ . How typical . An Indian with an anti meat eating agenda .

I certainly pray that the United States does not end up like the United Kingdom . The latter is a lost cause , completely .

I'm a potato and vegetable producer and we work in several counties. I've been dealing with this for my entire career but more so in the last 15 to 20 years. They want to move to farm country with visions of daisies and green pastures and some sort of serenity...except they bought a piece of land down wind from a dairy or hog production and never stepped foot on their new property until they moved in, then raise all sorts of hell about the smell. They don't like the of farm equipment working in the early mornings, evenings and weekends. I actually sat in on a town board meeting where an young couple was complaining that all the surrounding farmers were "just working all these early mornings, evenings and weekends because they don't like us and want us to leave". Really?
And GOD FORBID if they have to follow any farm equipment down the road for any length of time. How horrible. And dust! Oh my the dust!? Did you ever get a call from a sheriff telling you of a complain of dust on someone's car while it sits in their driveway?
I could go on and on but you get the point.
All are welcome, just don't move to the country and complain about the country folk.

Ill agree to pay someone to cut my grass.. and I'll happily call door dash and have them deliver some lasagna.. as long as the liberal will agree to drop the concept of socialism, actively opposing 2A, and continually wanting to invest in failed social programs that have crippled state economies in California, New York, and others...

Fair trade?

I assume Texas, like Colorado, has given all these companies excellent tax breaks to move to Texas? I’m hearing rumors of a Texas state income tax coming soon to pay for all the new residents’ civil benefits.
Texas is still a beautiful diversified state from 8,500 feet to sea shore! Piney woods to cactus desert!

Texas really doesn't have to give tax cuts - California taxes are so high that even if they pay 100% full taxes in Texas they will save LOADS of money; not to mention the overhead of keeping up with all of California's labor laws..... Think that wasn't a determining factor for the Raiders NFL team moving to Las Vegas?

I live in Austin Texas and have for over 8 years now and I can tell you some funny things.....

1. Californians move to Austin because it's the most like their home state with lots of people complaining about taxes, high cost of living, ect, ect, ect.... while at the same time doing everything they can to create more to complain about.

2. Austin Texas is a very financially divided city - You will be fine as long as you either ...

A. You come from money and your parents will continue to support you until the day you die, I'm not joking when I tell you the number of people I know in this town that are well into their 30-40's and still receive financial assistance from their parents is STAGGERING and honestly they would not be able to live in the city if it were not for Mom/Dad/trust fund.

B. You have no desire to accomplish more than making enough money to pay rent and then buy enough (insert narcotic of choice here) on Friday night to keep you happy; and that is all you live for..... Hence why you see so many 50yo career waiters and bartenders in this town.

3. Austin is a lot like Seattle- A little blue nipple on a big red tit!... Meaning that yes Austin is not only exceptionally liberal and self defeating but also a mecca for what I call "perpetual victims"; on the other hand the vast majority of people moving to Texas(except Austin) are moving to escape the very stupidity that we bemoan and are more than happy to be rid of it.

Also I must say - LOTS of the Hollywood stars moving here is pure LIES and tax evasion!

Lets say you are a movie star averaging $10mil annually; all you have to do is buy a house in Austin and get a Texas Drivers license and then have your press agent release "XXXXX is moving to Texas" in the media. You simply keep your Malibu mansion as your "investment property" even though you live in your Malibu Mansion and simply bought the house in Texas so you can skip California state income taxes!

Texas will remain conservative until hell freezes over! The state is stronger in its core than some of you nay sayers realize, it looks threatened, but it has a history of God and Country.

Texas is a republic not a state, it came into the USA with that written in its constitution..The can walk out on any give day..

Californa makes that difficult, maintaining a residence in the state makes that extremely difficult.

I read Governor Newsom is going to tax people before they can leave California! Crazy! Why don’t they quit wasting money? Seems that would help more than anything. Oh, I forgot it’s a government. A government can’t do anything to reduce costs, only increase costs!
