How has Everyone’s Hunting Season at Home been?

I have and it Is good my family is hesitant. Sounds like a joke but it isn’t.
My family was raised oN wild game but they too were hesitant. After eating it I was mad at myself for using beaver carcasses for Fox bait when I was trapping as a young man. It is excellent in stir fry also.

I make a pulled beaver bbq out of it and it is amazing.

I will have to try that. Sounds amazing.
When I was way younger, I used to through a game dinner in the fall and invite my friends and relatives. Roast beaver was often the surprising favorite of meat that usually included grouse, fish, duck, moose and deer and sometimes bear.

Connected on my first Pronghorn today. Opening morning in NE New Mexico. Very fun hunt so far with @BJONES .

Congratulations. No hunting here yet. Hard to imagine hunting this time a year. It is so unbearably hot right now in the South. What kind of temperatures and humidity are you dealing with?

MAdox, congratulations on a very fine pronghorn!

Hot, 65 AM to 90 plus. No humidity though.
MAdox, congratulations on a very fine pronghorn!
Thank you sir.

A sounder came out between some much needed rain showers and I got a couple this morning, should be good eating. We have a decent 10point with a few kickers this year on the ranch. Pics through binos, wish they were better. Central Tx.

Whacked this boar yesterday evening right before dark under a wild plum tree in East Texas. Through the shoulder with the 6.5x55 Ruger Hawkeye African and he was DRT.

Congratulations brother! Speedgoats are a blast to hunt!
Thanks JB. It has been a great weekend. My first Pronghorn hunt. I’ve lost track of the stalks we have made. My buddy got his tonight with about 30 minutes of light left with a great 220 yard shot.

Beautiful rifle! I have the same one in 275 rigby. Great handling rifles, ruger really nailed them.
I’ve got that one as well but prefer shooting the Swede over the Rigby.

I’ve been getting the hunting bug bad lately and didn’t want to wait until November for deer. So I called a buddy who farms along the forest fringe here in Saskatchewan and asked if he’s seen much bear activity. He said they were starting to hit his oats pretty hard so I should get up there. So I showed up today and he only had time to show me the field as he was harvesting and left me to fend for myself. Just as the light was starting to fade I noticed a whitetail doe and fawns about 300 yards away. All three were staring at something that was out of my sight so I figured I’d better go take a look. When I got into position I started scanning the oats and out of the corner of my eye I noticed the top of a bears head disappearing down into the standing oats. I got ready on the sticks and started to fawn bleat but the bear wasn’t responding. Finally he stood up on his hind legs 60 yards to the right of where I was aiming. Could just see head and neck to his shoulder but let one fly and was rewarded with the thump of a solid hit. Dropped him in his tracks!
