How did everyone make out at home this year? Post some pictures

All real nice whitetails, congrats! Speed goat looks great also!

That non-typical:E Day Dreaming:, too bad. Best of luck on that young buck in the future.:D Beers:. Congrats on your deer this year.

Thanks E :)

What a great thread and congrats!

My sons and I had a great goose hunt, I must have 30lbs of breast in the freezer! Our experience was the same as yours - they just kept coming! Lots of shooting. I will post a picture when I get one off the kids.

This was my second year moose hunting and I love it. Our moose hunt was, typically, a ton of fun and exhausting. Lots of good signs but no moose. Got really far out following very good rubs, set up on a few good tracks, but just could not time their cycle with ours. I tried my hand at calling but I am pretty sure my attempts explain the lack of success lol. The land mass is like a peninsula of sorts, so I think next year we may take a boat around the point and hike in from the other direction. The maps shows good marsh in there but the day was not long enough to get to the best part of it from the cabin.

Deer are frustrating me. I have had four does come in to my position but no bucks. I want to get out once more before the end of the season but I may not get a chance.

I have not been hunting long so I am trying to stay positive. However, after a few initial successes I am living proof that it ain't easy! I am starting to think a 10x10 fenced area would challenge me...
Thank God for geese!!

I have a had a heck of a deer season. I am very fortunate that I live in an unlimited doe area in VA, and I get 10 does in MD. I also get 3 buck tags in VA (if you shoot enough does) and 1 buck tag and bonus buck tag in MD. Here you have to shoot does before you can get another buck tag. I also get a kill permit on one of the properties I hunt. I also got a great deal for a Blacktail hunt in Oregon. So basically what I am saying is I get to hunt a lot and have been very blessed this year to have taken 17 deer.

Here are some highlights -
Double 3x this year on deer with the bow
Nice 3x3 with eye guards Blacktail deer
10 pt whitetail - my dad got an 11 ptr 30 minutes later 1/2 mile away.

I included a couple of pictures. I still have one buck tag left in VA and got my Bonus tag in MD. Have to make the big final push as I'm not going to lie, I am getting tired.

I almost didn't add pictures you guys kill some big deer!!!

Not exactly my home, more like my second home. Wyoming this year was a lot of fun and pretty productive.

Wow, with all those tags you could kill every deer left in AB :D lol

Those are some nice bucks you have there. Congrats.
One day I will try my luck on Blacktail, they are a neat animal.

There are so many deer around here, I hunt a 2.5 acre little forest area, I have counted 11 different deer in one afternoon and this is after I taken a few out. It is kind of amazing how well they have adapted to the burbs.

Ill start things off. This year was phenomenal for waterfowling up here. The warm weather kept them around in huge numbers weeks longer than they should have stayed. I had some great shots and despite the dismal deer numbers, managed to take a nice buck n my 2nd last day. The non-typical I hunted the last couple years was killed on the highway a few days before season. :(

so I turned my attention to a big 6x5 which ended up getting poached on a neiboring property midway through the season. The only good part of this event (if you can call it that) was the fact that it was witnessed by 2 people who actually had permission t b there, and were both RCMP officers :D. Long story short after getting ugly to the point that they had to pull their badges, which made thing uglier, the poacher was subdued and arrested on the spot.
That left just 1 mature buck in the area that I knew of. I managed to get a look at him 2x with no chance for an opportunity until my 2nd last morning. He made the mistake of chasing a doe back into the field 1/2hr after daylight. Seeing that he was not likely to pass by my stand, I used a hill and a rock pile to cut the distance and shot him offhand at 40yds.
Hell of a booby prize :D He is 6 1/2years old and has been passed on the last 2 years while pursuing the big non-typical.

As a bonus for next year, when I pulled the trail cam in a different area a new buck has shown up and I have plenty of pics of him. Next years quarry... (y)

So lets see some of your critters from this season.
Looks like I need to go whitetail hunting with you ! Nice

My NC deer, been trying for years to come across one like this! He was in full rut and was really heavy for here, right at 200 pounds.

I was hunting 320 acres of agriculture and 640 adjoining acres of timber and closest count I could get was around 10-12 does, 3 spikers, 1 yearling forker, 1 2yr old forker, a 2yr old 4x4, my buck and the other 2 mentioned spent some time there but mostly lived on an adjoining property for a total of 20 deer or so and I was fortunate, many hunted much more sparsely populated areas. My alternate area is 1600 acres of mixed agriculture bordered by 960 acres of timber and I doubt if there were 50 deer in there in total.

Forget public land, many people went days between deer sightings there. :(

You guys definitely have it made down there numbers wise.

It was a decent year for me:
I missed a slammer of a blacktail. Our eyes met and he went from zero to a thousand in a nano second. I should have made the shot but got target panick.
I then turned around and missed a "good" blacktail at long range.
Finally I killed the smallest buck on the last day of the season. Still very glad to have him.

The daughter's shooting was way better than mine. She had a late season mule deer tag and this was the first buck of the day.

This was posted on another thread also.

Im drinking beer, cutting deer, and watching 'bama beat up Florida on TV. Hope you find your deer.

In the stand right now trying to get one with a bow still got six weeks of hunting before the rut kicks off here in bamaView attachment 52390

I had no idea they rutted so late down there, I thought that was only south texas and mexico.

Beautiful muley hunting gold, congrats to you and your daughter. I think she may have edged you out a little in the antler department. :D

I am pretty jealous of that muley! I hope to get to hunt them one day!!!

@thriller any updates on how it went tonight?

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
