How about Johan Fanzoi double rifles

Ferlach is full of fine gunmakers. The whole town’s being, and history is based on guns.
The Hunters Museum in Ferlach is also well worth a visit. An absolutely amazing experience. A museum solely about hunting culture and history in the region. Superb.

I sold my Fanzoj in 9.3x74r to a very good freind. I regret it. But hopefully after he hunts with it I can get it back. It easily shoots factory ammo 1.5” at 50 yards.

Jay you shouldn't have let that one go!

There are also another 20 makers or more that are not in Ferlach some are in Austria somewhere in Germany, a few or in Switzerland

The only Austrian firm I know of not in Ferlach (there may be more) is Marholdt Peterlongo.

I also know this company from Innsbruck because it was one of the companies that imported rifles caliber 11,2x72 Schüler from Suhl. Due to legal reasons, the ammunition had to be manufactured in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was therefore produced in Bratislava under the name 11,2x71mm Rapid.

@Altitude sickness Well what can I say, I am in the same boat as there are several things I let go of in the last 10 years I wish I had back. A 577 BPE double comes to mind.

M familiar with the Heeren action. But reckon for me who would own only one rifle and not be interested in pre se trophy hunting--my interest in meat and adequate weaponery for protection/management of a small rural farm. My thoughts are along the lines of (a) a 9.3x62 magazine rifle w/2-5×42 scooe and (b) a 20 ga o/u shotgun. A .22 revolver might also be useful. Another rifle option would be a 30/06 magazine rifle.

Furtschegger and Fuchs are both in Innsbruck.

As a German hunter I can own as many rifles as I want, and 2 pistols. Or 3 pistols if one of them is a 22LR.

This is a Furtschegger Heeren.

This is a French Dorleac

I have no experience with Heeren falling block rifles, but in general, falling block actions from Sharp, Farquharson and similar actions, are considered in comparison superior in concept.

Johann Fanzoj does not seem to build any falling block rifles.

Johann Fanzoj builds beautiful Kipplauff rifles on under lever single actions

Very beau

Tiful. Thanks for the Heeren information. I have used Winchester Hi-wall rifles

Agreed you want a Heeren you buy it because you want a Heeren. Not because it is a better system.

Hagn and the Soroka versions of the Farqharson are better actions.

Dakota M10's have a glass jaw in their firing pin system.

Ruger #1's are perfect for what they cost.

Other than Hartmann and Weiss, Dorleac and Furtschegger I don't know how many people are still building them. At one time there were about 20. You see them marked with a ton of different makers. I don't now if they were building the scratch actions or not.

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
