How about Johan Fanzoi double rifles

Ferlach is located in a region of Europe with a rich hunting tradition. For hunting in the Alpine region and surrounding areas you don't need rifles of bigger calibers. The rifles manufactured there are accordingly this situation. Hunting in Africa was not an issue for a long time in Ferlach. Things were different in Suhl and in Germany in general, especially because of the Mauser action that was needed by some foreign gunmakers and therefore the contact with hunting worldwide, especially the dangerous game hunting in Africa and India.

They minded their own business--unlike the Berlin Conference...et.al.

The lines regarding rifles manufacturing and cartridge designing were already established before the First World War in both empire. Germany and Austria-Hungary were two very different empires. This was also reflected in the hunting traditions and the rifles used. Franz Joseph I. and Wilhelm II. were both enthusiastic hunters, but they practiced them in very different ways.

That was just a small contribution to history. Everything is becoming globalized nowadays and Ferlach also wants to be active on the international market, but traditions always shape the very old gunmakers companies.

Johann Fanzoj is just one of the builders in Ferlach, Austria. There are a number of them. Ferlach is probably the last bastion of small custom gun builders in the world...old time craftsmen turning out high-quality and sometimes quite ornate firearms....more like gun-art. I've had several from Joseph Just, Franz Sodia, Joseph Winkler, Borovnik, and perhaps one or two more. They're sometimes elaborate to the point of being gaudy by American standards, but best quality, for sure.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
