How do they do it? We were at a local electric co-op dinner last night, sitting across from two women that we had never met before. They seemed very nice and the conversation with them was very pleasant, they seemed impressed with how long my wife and I have been married and with the way we treat each other. Then all of a sudden the conversation turns and I'm catching hell about my wife's honey do list and the fact that it never gets any shorter because I never do anything that she asks me to. So apparently I got no points for my good deed or they expired already. It was three against one so I knew better then to try and fight back, so I just leaned back in my chair and bowed out of the conversation.

Damn sight better than living with a half way anti gunner. I did 50 years and heard all sorts of why this and why that concerning my guns, the cost, the "need", the time away from home, etc, etc. Consider yourselves lucky that they are interested and will share your interest in guns and shooting.

Consider this the best investment you ever made selling that rifle to buy them pistols. As they get hooked on shooting maybe hunting they will never argue about you going hunting or buying whatever you want.......... as long as you buy them ammo and new guns regularly.

I am pretty lucky. My wife has MS, and is concerned that she won't be able to walk as far on her next trip to Africa. She asked for a crossbow for Christmas so that she can archery hunt in a blind and still get her animals.

I told her that since I went on an elk hunt this year we could go wherever she wants next year. She was thinking Scotland or Italy, but told me a month ago that she thinks we should just go back to Africa and hunt. So we will see if she can talk me into it.

Sorry to hear about your wife's illness. At the same time she sounds like a pretty game gal, with wanting a cross-bow and all. Do your homework but I think an Excaliber Matrix is the way to go. One of their better features is that you can remove two bolts and transport it in a rifle case.

Excalibur is one that is on our list. I feel like it is probably the best, most durable crossbow... though I have limited knowledge.
Her necessities:
1. light
2. safe- must have the "no dry fire" feature
3. small- she is short and small.

Which Matrix is it that you are recommending?
She likes the looks of the Micro 355 and the 335 Nightmare.

I currently have the Matrix 355, my next one would no doubt be one of the "Micros" at 355 or faster. Yes they are a little pricy, but well worth the money. At 50 yards and under their "killing power" will match most rifles. Double lung shots work best. At 73 I can still cock my bow with the cocking rope, you might consider getting the "crank" for your wife. Have her spend some time judging distance with and without the use of a range finder on various size targets. I guarantee she will love the results.

thanks Shootist. My wife is the one concerned about the price. She can never wrap her mind around spending money on herself.
My main thing is simply whether the difference in price matches difference in quality.
Here, it looks as though it does, but I've never held one or shot one to know for sure.
In the end, she will look at them and we'll go for there, but I will try to steer her, lol, to the one I want her to have. (the better one)
