Holland & Holland .375 takedown fires when safety flipped off

So the .400 and .465 Holland & Holland are GONE already? If so, are they still proprietary cartridges?

So much for bespoke. Offering but a single cartridge to me sounds more like a semi-custom “we’ll cut the stock to your LOP only” deal.

Must be missing something.

interesting. I thought they used Prechtl. But haven’t been paying that close attention recently.
George Gibbs, Westley Richards and James Purdey use Mayfair Engineering Magnum Mauser actions. John Rigby uses Blaser Magnum Mauser actions.

You can also convert it to side safety. I recently did this to a M98 actioned Musgrave in .375. And a Mahillon in 9.3x62 with an FN action. Makes for snappy shooting when the debt collector comes charging!

Considering how much money the hopefully former social media team and their marketing turne into a luxury boutique its understandable its presumably for a while until they are getting back up again.
I certainly hope so, Per. That said. My personal favorite English gun maker will always be Westley Richards, however. Just a preference.

Someone call the air marshals, this threads been hijacked!
Seriously, the original poster asked a question about a critical safety issue.

Problem Solved-I replaced all the 60+ yr old springs in the bolt and safety now rotates to all 3 positions and no firing pin releases when safety merely switched off. went with a 26lb Wolff firing pin spring.
Thanks to everyone for assistance!
on to the next one :)

Id bet worn sear or trigger adjusted way down??? That can be spooky and dangerous when that type of thing happens! YIKES! I had it happen on a pre war model 70 in 270 win. Took the safety off and it went BOOM! That was a different issue but same surprising OH CHIT! type of situation!

I've got a couple of hundred dollars in my wallet if you're dying to get rid of it :)

Must be nice to have a couple of hundred dollars in your wallet? I'm lucky to have a few twenties that my wife doesn't know about. Ha! Ha!

I'll take a H and H in .465 with a critical safety issue? But, nobody on AH or anywhere else has even seen a .465 cartridge, let alone an actual rifle in that cartridge, so carry on. LOL

Bruce dow in Dade city is who I use he's built several rifles restored and fixed a model 70 with a similar issue.if anything has a cool shop and wealth of knowledge

I would strongly recommend sending it to J.J. Perodeau in Tulsa. He is an expert on these guns. My other thought if it is a real Holland & Holland with a dangerous flaw why not call them?

Im going to DSC in January and thought I would swing by the H&H gunroom and perhaps drop it off

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
