Hi there... Long time lurker here...

What happened to the .416 WBY?
Still have it. A custom shop Mark V Euromark. It’s a cannon; even with the brake. Surely up to the task for Buffalo; but, the nostalgia of the double got the better of me. If the Heym doesn’t arrive on time; it’s gonna be my Plan B option.

Hi Chad, welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH! great place and good luck with your hunt

Welcome to AH. Good luck on your hunt.

Hi there,

Chad here; I live in Tampa, Florida. I make wine for a living; so that’s my gig.

Lifelong outdoorsman; I’ve hunted and fished across the US, Canada and Mexico.

I’m currently booked to hunt SA with Ken Moody in June. Primary target is Cape Buffalo and Kudu. Plains game as opportunities present themselves. Fingers crossed that it still happens with all the Covid stuff.

This will be my first trip to Africa; I’d actually booked a hunt over a decade ago but my trip was cancelled due to unrest. Then kids and life happened and I’m only now able to get in the trip of my dreams.

In the meantime, my only quasi-African animal is this Oryx I picked up in New Mexico last year.

Cheers!

Welcome and happy hunting

Welcome. I'm new as well and I have been impressed with how nice and helpful everyone has been.

Chad, welcome to the AH forum! Good for you making your dreams come true! I can hardly wait for my next opportunity to go as well! Nice choice in arms for a buffalo!

Welcome to AH.

Hello wiltznucs,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Welcome aboard! I've hunted with Ken. You will have a great time. You have a big problem heading your way though. Like a lot of people I did my first Safari that was going to be the once in a lifetime trip and now Safari # 6,7 and 8 are happening this summer. It's addictive. Good luck and enjoy the site.

Welcome to the forum! Lots of wackin round here. Please give us a hunt report with pics after your hunt with Ken moody. Have fun .

Welcome aboard Wiltznucs. The 450/400 is a fine choice for your intended hunt. Please be sure to post pictures when it arrives. You will also be expected to show us your range results. Do you already have ammo for it? Has anyone mentioned the use of shooting sticks? You will need to get comfortable with them.

Hi Chad, I assume you went for the 4.5kg frame, ie the Africa frame? They also do a heavier one above that, I think 5.4kg, but it is really for 500's etc. Did you opt for scope mounts? All Heyms have grooves for red dots though.

I did grab up several boxes of the of the Hornady Bonded DGX and DGS that the gun is regulated with.

I’ve shot from sticks before; however, you are right and I need to add some to my equipment and get more familiar.

Recommendations for sticks are gladly accepted!

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
