Thinning out some of my rifles that are not being used.

First offered is a Heym Martini in .416 Rigby, which I purchased directly from Ralf Martini, the designer of this updated Heym rifle.

Ralf handled importing it to me through Border View importers in Washington. The importer’s mark is teeny tiny on the under side of the barrel just forward of the fore end and shown below.

This rifle from Ralf has a few nice gold accents and touches such as a front sight with glow in the dark sight that flips up for use in low light situations.

Ralf mounted and zeroed a scope, which are the only shots fired through it. The original papers from Heym show it was made in 2014. His prior customer never fired it or took it hunting and I have not either. I have not fired a single round through it. I sold the original scope and mounted a Nightforce 1-8, but never fired a single round through it. A pair of Alaska Arms quick detach rings will be included. Length of pull is 14 1/2”.

This rifle is slim, svelte, and elegant in hand. There are several tasteful, subtle gold accents added, which add a subtle touch of elegance and class. If this rifle was a woman, it would be Helen Mirren.

Price $15,500 shipped FFL to FFL, which is the current base level price for a Heym without the upgrades. A set of Alaska Arms quick detach rings will be included. I am willing to do a face to face sale in Texas if you have a current and valid license to carry. All other sales will go FFL to FFL, no exceptions.

Here is a good article about this updated Heym Martini design:

They just don't get any better than a Heym worked over and finished by Ralf Martini!
Hartmann & Weiss has hired Ralf to work for them. So he has moved back to Germany. Guess they were worried about Heym encroaching on their high end market. Ralf is a super nice person. Now I wish I would have ordered one of his full custom builds.

Damn, I just picked up my 416 Rigby from Chris yesterday.

With Ralf at the Heym booth, 2023. I think that's the 500NE I should have bought instead of ordering one.

If this is your first offering, DM the rest of your list - there's only 18 more shopping days till Christmas.

Ok, a few folks have expressed interest, but no firm offers so far. Since there is such a range of shipping costs and scope thus rings preferences, I am going to drop it to $14,950 plus the actual cost of shipping. Alaska Arms 30mm rings are separate and available if you want them for $250. My FFL charges me $50 for handling the transfer plus he prefers UPS, which they estimate will be at least $150 with insurance. Alaska and Hawaii potentially are quite a bit more for shipping. Face to face in Texas is fine if you have a LTC. I live on the northwest side of Austin.

Tex.416, and potential buyers. your better off putting the UPS insurance money into a firearm insurance company for home and travel.

A years worth of coverage is probably less than UPS gouges you for a $15K rifle. Without a years worth of hassle from UPS and no payout at the end.

$14,500

Your wife wants you to be happy at Christmas.

Some music for enjoyment.

Forgot one of the nice small details Ralf added. Even I can easily see this rear sight very quickly with my old eyes looking through trifocals. His small touches really nicely and thoughtfully finish an already top tier rifle. I cannot take a photo worth a flip with my phone of this rear sight, so here is a photo Ralf Martini took of it in his shop. The gold letter inlays and this sight were done by Ralf's local engraver to his specifications. Ralf clearly understood how to design with subtle touches that are accents, not garish bling. Also notice the very visible front sight with the larger and bolder night sight flipped up. These are very fast to acquire and use iron sights, not just decorations. Ralf Martini knows how to design rifles as useful tools in addition to being beautiful designs.

Well, learned a valuable lesson which thought worth sharing on taking photos of guns. We had a nice warm sunny day, so as I was packing the Heym Martini to go to its new owner, took some photos outside in natural sunlight. The wood just comes alive with warmth. Compare the photos in the first post taken in my study under basic incandescent lighting with these in natural sunlight.

I see these photos and think about walking in the Serengeti grasslands with the soundtrack to Out of Africa playing in my mind.

Anyway, it is off to its new home with one of the nicest and most experienced members. Meeting him has been a really pleasant experience. Hope we see it in a photo with a buff.

Beautiful. One of life's finer things. Always a pleasure to see fine work of a master on display.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
