Hey from East Texas

Welcome. I agree with hunting4sanity. I bit the bullet and leave in June for my first. It's been a lot of planning and saving for me to pull it off but will be well worth it in the end. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for all the good replies. Royal27, I have been talking to my wife about driving up to Dallas on Saturday morning as it is only about 2 1/2 hours from us. I have never been to a show that big, I'm sure it will be an exciting day to meet a lot of people in and around the industry of African hunting. I told my wife that we are going to Africa in 2016 one way or another. I am committed to making it happen.

Hello Philip

Welcome to AH. Once you start with your safari research and pricing feel free to private message me.

Welcome to AH, Philip !

Welcome to AH, Philip! Always great to have a fellow East Texan on the forum. I would second the advice to go to DSC.

PS I spent a lot of my youth in and around Lake of the Pines ... beautiful country and wonderful memories!

Hey Scott, what do you in Nac? We just moved up here from Nac about a year and a half ago. I lived up here in 05 and 06 then back to Nac. Now here we are again.

Hey Phillip game 4 africa safaris just posted a smokin deal under the great deals forum. I've never hunted with them but it's a 7 day hunt with some of the most glamorous pg species for less than 10k. Just an idea. Good luck!

Philip,

I am a professor at SFA. I graduated from here in '82 and finally moved back in '13.

Welcome Philip, good to see another one who know to spell his name with one "L"! Hope to see you in Dallas.

You made the first step. Commitment to the idea of going.
You'll be there soon enough.

Welcome to the posting side of AH.

.... I don't think soon enough exists ... especially after you have been once!

Phoenix Phil, I know you will know what I mean when I say I have been fighting that and correcting people my whole life. lol A lot of the time now, I don't even bother correcting them unless it is on a legal document. I just got home from a friend's house who has been to Africa three times. We had a great visit and he gave me a lot of good info on travel, gun and ammo permits and other stuff.

Welcome to AH Phillip.

You sure joined the right forum. Lots of great outfits on this forum and a good place to find tips about do's and don'ts from fellow hunters.

I hope you find the right Outfit for you and that we will soon be reading about your amazing hunting safari in Africa!

Welcome Philip

Dont hesitate to ask if you require any info from any country, province or outfitter you are sure to find a awnser on here.

My best

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
