Welcome aboard. Have you been practicing shooting off "sticks"? You will be expected to use them in Africa. Is your buddy an AH member, or does he at least browse the site on a frequent basis? Two sets of eyes are better than one. There is lots of information to be gathered from experienced hunters. All you need to do is read and or ask.. The time will fly bye. If you are flying coach, upgrade to the Economy Comfort seats. They are a lot more comfortable on that 16 hour flight.

@matt85 - what did you whack that pig with? Nothing smaller than a Lott, I hope!

i was using my general purpose rifle, a 416 RM pushing a 300gr TSX at 2650fps. this is my go-to rifle for all game under 200 yards.
