Help Me Choose Magnification for an "All Around" Hunting Rifle

I have a low power 1-5 scope in a set of Talley rings and a 2-12 in a set of Talley rings.
For Africa or close bear I use the 1-5. For longer range stuff. Deer/ elk I put the 2-12 on it.
