Hello, everyone,

I have done a search for how to get a Canadian Export Permit. That is not the hard part!

The hard part is that I am taking a Sig Sauer Cross Magnum 300 win mag, with an Sig SIERRA6BDX scope, and a KILO2200BDX range finder.

These items are made in the USA and I know, for sure, that the rifle is ITAR controlled. How have my fellow Canadians navigated this hurdle so that I can temporarily export such items from Canada to Namibia and back? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

You are doing a temporary export for hunting reasons not a export for sale. So should just be the normal paperwork within your home country to take your fire arms on a hunt and bring them home.

one of the Canadian AH members should chime in soon with more specific information.

I want to thank everyone on this form. I got my answer. ITAR does not apply when the rifle has already been exported from the United States and is not a military item. I will attach a photograph of where I got hung up. This is the page just before you hit submit. We picked the last option for each question. I just got my permit.

I got the permit online. As I said in an earlier post, I got confused because I read too much into the questions asked before I get to hit submit on the online portal. I’ve attached a picture above. I got confused about ITAR unnecessarily. I did it to myself.

Glad you got it resolved! Happy hunting!

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
