@Milan good taste in the taylors
...but you must quaff proper vintage port after christmas lunch... with some gorgeous stilton and mature cheddar ......i have 6 cases of 1977 taylors in the cellar which might be opened in another 10 years if i can survive that long
...my favorite while we had it in one hotel was the 1970 quinta da noval, and a lot later i used to buy all the taylors 1970 magnums in one shop as they were a very good prices due to people only wanting regular bottles, and superb drinking. i used to drink quite a lot of this nectar ....but now it is out of fashion and not drunk at all like it was 15 +years ago.. here anyway
i bought myself a taylors 1945 one of the classic vintages for my 30th bday ....a couple of years ago honest
but the oldest i have had was one of the all time best vintages , a taylors 1927 that a friend who is a top international golfer was given as a gift ..he likes port so after a sunday lunch he said lets open it
..from the taylors port vintage website
1927
A classic vintage Port, one of the finest of the century, but because it coincided with the Great Depression, it didn’t sell well. Part of the stock was blended into standard quality Ports.
‘Good colour of ruby/brick red. Aromas of dried dark fruit, sultanas and raisin with just a hint of dried flowers. Full-bodied, very rich and raisiny on the palate, with dark chocolate and candied toffee, very sweet finish. Lively and gorgeous.’
yup we persevered and manged to finish it ....be rude not to
... so milan it would be a pleasure to meet and have a couple of decanters at least of the lovely vintage port
