Ha ha, small world. Jumbo seems like a great guy.

Welcome to AH, any chance of a report on your first safari?
Yep, absolutely. I flew into Joburg, then to Windhoek. Drive 5-6 hours to Shona Hunting. I hunted there for Gemsbok (my first animal, what a thrill), Kudu, Red Hartebeest and Hartmann's Zebra. I was on a rock hill above the Gemsbok and he got to about 70 yards and I smoked him, nice one shot kill. Got my mountain Zebra a couple days later and basically shot form one Kopje to another, maybne 130 yards, one shot kill. They are very good to eat btw. That was a fun hunt and they are smart and wary and tougher than you think to see! Got my Kudu and Hartebeest in the next couple days and a baboon. One fun thing we did was we happened to see a lechwe (they don't belong where I was but another guy had brought a few to his place not too far away and this one got away. It was not doing well and so we tracked it down and basically tackled it, rope it up and brought it back to the guy, was pretty crazy. Gave it some electrolytes and it made it. Had some great outdoor bbq's on a hilltop too. When we were after the zebra we ran across some steaming elephant dung and the one time my PH was, let's say very acute of his surroundings! Saw the elephants about 70 yards away, herd of 7-8.
Then we went to another camp near Etosha to hunt the Eland. We spotted two old bulls and made a stalk to get closer. It was thick and as we creeped topward where we thought they were I stepped on a bunch of rocks that made a bit of noise. We hunkered down and sat down, almost lying down. As we were sitting there trying to make sure we didn't spook the Eland we were glassing and saw the Eland's chest through some brush, maybe 30 yards away. I had my .300 wsm with Barnes tipped bullets and so my PH asked me if I would take a shot with his 9.3 which had soft points. I made the shot and we began to track, just a TON of blood trail and about 30 yards away he was down and out. Went right through his heart, was awesome to see it up close. Also went after a wildebeest up there and were on some but none good enough to take. I also hunted wart hog but didn't get one as wee were not able to get a nice one to shoot in the sites. Just was a great trip, pretty seemless and great times.

Welcome to AH !

Nature Boy, if I were you I'd get that CZ out to a range post haste and make sure it functions. If you think I'm joking and or not serious do a quick search on AH for CZ feeding problems.
