Hi there.
Thanks for having me. I've seen this site many times but have only just got around to joining. It looks great!
I've hunted in Africa twice and been to Africa 4 times, once for a year and a half and the last few times for a month each to work with wildlife, mainly rhino. And to hunt, obviously. And I'll be going back again soon.
Nice to meet you all.

Great to have you on the forum Kim. Will be nice to see some photos and read a report or two about your time in Africa.

All the best
jono

Welcome to AH Kim! Nice to have you with us, looking forward to your contribution. What sort of work do you do with wildlife and Rhinos?

Hi Kim, welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH.

Welcome to AH.

All the best from Romania!

Howdy!

Welcome!

Thank you.
As far as rhino in Namibia...no, I haven't sadly. But maybe one day. All my travels to Africa in the last few years has been in South Africa. The year I spent there I did SA, Zim, Zambia, Moz, Malawi. But I have darted and relocated a black rhino, angry little man. :)
In working with wildlife I've done game capture which I loved. Hard work but fun, until a zebra takes you out. :) I've made amazing friends doing it.
In as far as rhino which is my big passion I've helped with darting, relocated them, de horned them and tracking, research, etc, and next year I'll be working with a friend who's also a well known rhino vet who mainly deals with rhino that have been poached and are injured. I'm also in a group which are in the process of bringing some to Australia to breed and to live relatively safely. That's the plan anyway. We're almost there.
As far as hunting goes, I'm not a pro by any means but I love it. I learned to hunt in Africa during one of my trips. First a warthog and an impala.
The second trip I took a wildebeest at 160metres with one shot. He dropped where he stood. As I know that's not easy as my PH told me. As I had it in my sights my PH told me to make it good, no pressure, haha. So an especially proud moment. A couple more Impala went the same way.
I've since bought a hunting rifle and am planning to do some hunting at home, mostly roo's as we have too many of them.
I do long range competition shooting here at home with my 308 target rifle which I love. And that's about it condensed.

Does anyone know how I check my mesages? I see I have some but can't work out how to view them. Sorry, a forum newbie here, lol.

Just click on "inbox" at the top of the page, then click on the title to go into the message. On my tablet especially I'm terrible about clicking on one of the participants make and that doesn't work! Have to click on the title of the message.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. :)
It says I have three messages but they're not showing. And no alerts for them. I think I'm an idiot. Haha. Oh well, I'll work it out.

Welcome Kim,

It sounds like you have had some terrific experiences in your work. I know a gentleman that was also working towards bringing Rhino's into Aus. I have spoken to him at length about the project - there were so many positives. Their project was in North QLD which has suitable plant communities etc. The project was almost successful until the Beattie Govt came to power and didn't back it. A terrible shame given the amount of work and backing the project had.

Cheers,
JWB300

Really? That's interesting. Shame he didn't pull it off. This ones going ahead. We have six rhino lined up in South Africa and ready to go. And more to come. The Australian gov is behind us and the paperwork is all in place with the SA gov. Look up The Australian Rhino Project in FB and the website. The website has more info. Very exciting times.

Great to have you here, Kim! You will be a wonderful addition. And I think this site will prove a great resource for topics of conversation for the other groups you Admin on the social media sites. :)

Welcome to a great community Kim!

Best of luck with the rhino relocation.

R.

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
