Hi
Firstly thank you for left me join this forum. I live in north west England and have been shooting and hunting for the last 35 years. I spend most of my spare time stalking Roe and Red deer but also enjoy target shooting (in particular precision rifle shooting). I have joined this forum to leArn about hunting in Africa as I have wanted to visit to hunt plains game and buffalo for many decades. Now my kids are a bit older this seems more attainable so perhaps 2021 may be the year!!

Welcome to the AH forum, I am sure you will enjoy it. You are absolutely right about 2021, there is just to much uncertainty at this stage that might impact on any plan stitched together now. This will allow enough time to plan your trip and assess how Covid 19 is going to play out. I am sure you will agree that a "new normal" will be established post the reality of Covid 19, which will change the look and feel of most businesses on the one side and create opportunity on the other side, more specifically relating to conservation and game management.

Game Trackers Africa (GTA) is a long standing Outfitting operation facilitating predominantly free-ranging safaris in Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and Cameroon. Our South African concessions are large fenced areas ranging from 4000 acres to in excess of 10000 acres.

GTA's diverse offering in Safari areas in five countries provides clients with more flexibility to tailor their Safari to fit their specific need considering their planned journey, experience expectation and specie diversity selection.

You are welcome to contact us with your specific needs or general plan and we can assist to design your Safari for consideration and get to business once we understand the "new normal" and sustainability in this new environment.

Stay safe and kind regards

Hi I live 14 miles south of Newton Stewart

Welcome to the forum SRvet.
Here in South Africa "field shooting" is very popular.
Basically we try to simulate hunting conditions so on a typical competition day you might have 6 different shooting ranges. 3 ranges might be gongs and 3 will be different animal targets where the heart and brain counts 30 points, lungs 20 points, stomach and or legs is a minus 15.
We also shoot against time and the distances are not known and must be guessed and shooting position might be from a tree or over an anthill or from a log lying down or free hand sometimes or from shooting sticks, or sitting or kneeling, etc.
Lots of fun. I use a 6 mm SLR mainly because you can see your impact of the bullet on the steel gongs and can correct your next shot. With a bigger caliber you lose the gong out of your scope during recoil.
So the faster lighter calibers are very popular.

If you come on safari with us we can take you with us to one of our competitions.
E-mail us for a quote.

Sincerely
Hans de Klerk

Things are tough and uncertain, hope some sort of normality will return soon to get your Safari plans back on track.

Good luck

Hi S

Hope you are well.

A good site this, I posted on here about my first trip to Huntershill a couple of years back: https://www.africahunting.com/threa...ame-in-the-eastern-cape-sa.41664/#post-416842

I'm afraid Robin's (August) trip might now be moved to 2021 unless he can go in November.

I fear my Buffalo plans will be delayed by Covid 19 in more ways than one (sale off!)

All the best

Nick

Hi Lancaster
All good thanks, hope you and yours are too. Covid has had many effects for lots of folk, sorry to hear about the sale. I’m sure the buffalo will wait for a bit longer

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe
