Have a trip planned to SA in May. It will be my first. Been reading all the great post about peoples times in Africa getting excited.

My list for this, hopefully first trip, is nyala (the animal that I always wanted to go to africa for), cape bushbuck, impala, and blesblok.

The wife will be after blue wildebeest, zebra, and a kudu.

Decided on the 7mm-08 after she develeoped a bad flinch last elk season shooting the 300 wm. Will be sending 156 gr oryx at 2800 fps. We will be keeping all shots under 200 yrds.

Welcome to the site. I lived in nc for some years and could not sleep last night after Duke lost.
I’ve been to sa a couple times and will return this summer. Also taking my 7mm-08 and for more or less the same animals that you have in your list.
Practice from sticks and be prepared to
Stretch your shots beyond 200. Depends a lot on where you go but longer does happen.

Welcome to AH from WNC. Where will you and your wife be hunting?

Depending on where you are in NC, a Duke loss is something to cheer. As a State alum, it is hard to pull for Duke.

Welcome to AH AckleyHunter!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to AH. I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
The 7mm-08 is one of my favorite rounds. I’ve been using it since it’s introduction.

I had some friends go up to Durham for the Auburn - Duke game earlier in the year. Their experience was not too good. They said the Duke fans while passionate they were extremely rude and hostile. I was hoping for a rematch in the championship game but it was not to be. I lived in Durham years ago while playing for the Bulls, I did really enjoy my time there.

Welcome to the site. Where are you headed to? I will never tire of hunting bushbuck! Y’all have a good list!

Welcome to AH! Nice to have you on the site.

Being a Carolina fan and having attended UNC for grad school, Duke and Dookies are hard to take. That said, I really did think they got screwed by the ref in that last minute foul called on Flagg.

Maybe with State getting a new coach and hopefully Carolina regaining their edge, we can get back to a rivalry in NC the way it should be - State v Carolina without any of this Duke nonsense.

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

Hi Paul,
This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
