Welcome to AH!!
Thanks for the reply. I have tried the NEG red pads, and installed one on my 9.3x74r and 450/400. I find them to be rather hard pads, and not at all like the ones that came on my 7mm rem mag or several other rifles. I built a custom stock for the 9.3, and I found that more surface area on the butt made the biggest difference.Hello and Welcome, Just a Dude,
I have been told by my gunsmith that Pachmayr has discontinued the Red color in their D752B Olde English recoil pad. I have these on a few of my rifles, they look "proper" and they do help reduce the sting.
Lyman (owner of Pachmyr brand) website lists them as in stock for a 1" medium Red D752B.
I am not sure at all about shipment to Canada. Perhaps a phone call to Lyman directly?
If this is not an option, I can suggest staying with the NECG red pads (which my gunsmith recommends, probably because grinding, installation is easier), and using a Limbsaver shoulder pad, that is thinner than a PAST shoulder pad, and I think works better. No big deal with an extra 1/4 inch or so LOP, and really takes the sting out of shooting a 450/400 Nitro 3inch with just a thin shirt.
Welcome, Kick EEZ very good pad Limb Saver softer but will not last.Morning,
I have to admit, I have been coming here for a year or two to learn. But I figured I should make an account to be a little more interactive.
About me:
I live in BC Canada, I hunt a few times a year for: Spring bear, fall bear, fall elk and deer. I have taken a handful of elk and bear, and a few hundred deer. I have hunted in Africa once (my Dad's side of the family lives in SA, so I was visiting family and went out for a few days) taking a nice impala. So while I have been to Africa a few times, I have only hunted the once, and am pretty novice considering actual experience.
To help with hunting I participate in competitive shooting, as part of my work for the Canadian Armed Forces, I have made the CAF international shooting team a few times, and represented us in Bisley England. And I have to say that level of competition really helps prepare you for game.
So I am a good guy to ask about shooting, or deer hunting, but a bad choice for asking about African game.
Side note, where would I post questions about where to find stuff? It is hard to find some gun related stuff in Canada, and I am looking for soft red recoil pads suitable for a 500NE / 450-400. I can only seem to find ones that are branded things like winchester and remington.

Greetings Just a dude in BC,
Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.
Decelerator and Kick-Ease are I believe filled with gel and so, should take a little of the sting away from hard recloilers.
However, I do no know if they are available in red or not.
But I do agree with you that red ones look proper on classic rifles, such as the excellent Ruger #1 model.
Best Regards,
Velo Dog.
