Has anyone seen this new .303 single shot?

This was announced at SHOT 2020 - Uberti "Courteney" single shot, 24" .303 British on an 1885 action. I hope this helps revive the popularity of that fantastic caliber.

That is a pretty little rifle. Not certain their claim about it being the only rifle chambered for 303 in a production rifle since WW2 is accurate. Ruger produced the No.1 in 303 British.
I hope this works out for them and they sell well so they will chamber them in other cartridges. One of these in a 318 WR would be wonderful!

IIRC the No. 1 in .303 was never a regular offer, but rather a one-year special.

I have heard between 400 and 600 were run in 303, it initially started as a special run of 250 but Ruger did a production run of more than 250. I believe you are correct that it was only a one year production but that is nothing new for the No.1. My understanding is most went to Canada, OZ and Europe, some say less than 100 stayed in the US.
Regardless I think the 303 is a cool cartridge, just wish the bullet selection was better for it.
Only thing I don’t like on this Uberti is the quarter rib/picatinny rail thing they did, almost like having a rail on a 1911!

I would look at the this Uberti when available. Retail is over $1700, but street price might not be too bad. Agree on the scope base. Think something else might be in order.

My understanding is that most of the 303 rugers were sold in Australia and Canada.

That makes sense I guess, but had not heard that. I had one, fine shooter. Loaded it up to .308 Win specs, no problems. Wish I still had it.

The 1885 lowall and high wall were engineering masterpieces of simplicity and beauty. I would love to have one of the Browning copies

I'll check this out. I would scope it, but I do not care for that stupid rail. Suspect one could probably slot the other quarter rib for Talley's.

I have a Winchester 85 in 38 WCF (38-55). This one has the folding peep sight and is remarkably accurate out to 150 yards or so. Took a couple of deer in Virginia with it a number of years ago. Neat old rifle. A modern .303 would be fun.

At least for me the history of the round and the readily available ammunition is the draw. As well as the fact that I learned to hunt with a single shot .303

The stocks can still be found to put them back into military configuration. I personally prefer them that.

In the old SMLE it is only a bit slower than the 08. In a P14, Ruger No1 or hiwall it can be loaded to almost equal the ought six.
