Harrisburg Sports Show boycott??

Patrick,

Only advice I have for you regarding the market is to bite on your teeth for a couple of years my friend. There is so much competition out there and all the shows promise you the world untill you get there and there's only 50 people moving through. The bigger shows are more expensive but they are the better shows.

Dont give up easily and good luck with Harrisburg. It used to be a good show, if things turn around and there is new management of the show we will defnitely be back in 2014.

Best regards,

Jacques

Thank you everyone for the show of support. Like I said, I would love to be in a position to go with the mainstream in regards to the boycotting of Harrisburg.
I am looking forward to meeting anyone that is still going to go but I also understand what is at stake for the hunting public in the US and wish you luck as you enter difficult times ahead with regard to gun legislation. http://www.africahunting.com/images/smilies/moresmilies/ar15.gif
Thank you for the advice Jacques, its been a hard slog here in Canada for the past three years but "vasbyt" and a big risk is paying off. Just hope that it goes the same way in the States!

I am with Brick on this one... If they get away with the ban off asuallt rifles and modern gadgedts now they will defnitely do that to hunting rifles as well in a couple of years. I am loosing all the money I paid for my booth but in the long term I think that this loss will be less than what it would be should the ban rifles and hunting.

I will make extra sure that I will meet with every single client that had plans to visit us at the booth as i will have a lot of free time on my hands now. Should they lift the ban we will be back next year if the show still exists.

Please note Jacques attendance in the area, not the show. Announcement in the following thread.

There list stands at 207 (nearly 20 percent) including the NRA and is still growing.

Jaco I feel for you but I hope the whole show is a dismal failure. If we do not start taking a stand there will be no need for shows in the future.

For the life of me I do not understand Reed trying to divide the hunting and shooting sport community.

Remember that most of the idiots that want to ban the so called assault weapons would take every gun you have given the chance. Many would support the end of hunting.

It is all a part of their left wing socialist agenda.

Jaco,

Maybe you will sell your quota n Reno and can go home. That would be great!!!!

:) mike that would be awesome, today was not to bad a little quiet but some interest at least...

Come by if you are here booth 206 you can't miss it its 40ft of booth!!!

My best always.

Well this stinks. I made plans to go with my brothers...I'm wondering if it's still worth it.

It would be worth it just to meet Jaco. Just my opinion.

I live 25 miles form Harrisburg PA where the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show is held. As of today, Progressive Insurance is the only major sponsor left and more that 250 vendors have pulled out along with a large group of guest speakers. Reed Exhibitions has stopped selling tickets online and there is word that the show is now in jeapardy. For those of you who are still coming, I would get in touch with your contacts and make sur the show is going to happen. There is a MASSIVE local boycott going on and many many folks have stated that they will not attend. I have gone for 26 consecutive years and that ends this year even if Reed changes its mind, which does not look likely. It has been all over the local news and is now national news. Those of us that value the 2nd Amendment and our right to bear arms, that is GUARANTEED by the US Constitution have banded together on this issue. By he way, there will be NO FREE PARKING and bus shuttle from Bass Pro Shops this year.

Well Jaco, guess I would make some calls if I were you my friend. It really sucks for the vendors, hell, it's their lively hood. We have to make a stand, I agree, and I WILL ALWAYS STAND, just REALLY sucks for the vendors, most of all for our friends, like Jaco. May you sell a shitload of hunts out west.

Yes, it really does suck for the vendors that rely on this for their livelyhood. I do believe that gun owners here in the US are finally fed up with
the assault by the government on our right to bear arms. This boycott has taken on a life of its own and is getting bigger by the day.

This sounds like a perfect opportunity for some other event promoter to step in next year and blow Reed out of the market, maybe all of their markets, with a strong presence and support of gun ownership rights in their advertising. I would think that the sporting public would come in droves next year, to all the ex-Reed venues, if this was publicized effectively. This needs to go national and get every promoter of every show scheduled for this year on the band wagon. I can see attendance doubling at every show this year if the advertising promotes the Second Amendment.

Thank you!! to all the vendors and public who had the guts to do what is right. We are a formidable force when we work together to protect ANY loss of our liberties in the 2nd amendment. After reading their statement it's obvious that they still don't think that modern sporting arms have any place in these expos. The need to attract younger people to the shooting sports and hunting could never be greater. Why should we gun owners not see that banning any weapons that are currently legal will start the erosion of not only our rights but also the great culture of gun sports.

the show is officially cancelled

Hartzview, please don't send any further pm's to my inbox. I was looking to book a lion hunt this year. It didn't happen. I booked with Johan Calitz for ele in ng41, bongo/eland in CAR, leopard in zim, elk in utah, and my summer is packed. I still need a lion and I'm no longer looking. I saw your post above and I'm glad to see that some people will stand up for whats right. When the time is right my wife and I will shoot a lion with you just to show you some people like to reward those that do the right thing regardless of the financial backlash. I've personally refused work to customers I didn't agree with on a moral basis. It cost me dearly at times but I've never once felt I made a bad choice. Thank you for your support of all of our rights.

Made a plan, taking a knock but good loyal friends and clients always come to ones rescue, as for the show I had been attending it for 12 seasons, and can almost guarantee that it's poked for the future unless some other organizer picks it up......

Everything seems to be a bit screwed up this year although we'll still have a good season Reno was down by more than 40% every one wants something for nothing and it ain't happening!

My best always!

Adaptive as always.

I would hazard your estimation is bang on. I doubt an outfitter is going to take a chance on that show again under current management.

Did these buffoons offer a refund for those vendors they "impacted" with their "last minute" policy change?

I would think that since they have "Postponed the show" they would have to give full refunds of all monies paid. I do know there is a lawyer looking into a lawsuit
against the promoter. Where that goes is anyones guess. It is going to cost over 2 million dollars in refunds.

I have talked to several of the vendors that pulled out and as Brickburn said, they are not going to do the show under Reed Exhibitions again. We will see how this shakes out

Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
