Fellow AH-er, master gunsmith and master machinist FlyingSailor dropped by for the week to help me get my workshop properly set up. I’m learning a ton as we go. Today I learned how to hurt real bad and how to move 3/4 ton of iron.

Tomorrow we’re leveling machines and tramming mill tables. Then a blizzard with stay-in day drinking, then we’re going to visit AH’ers around the region.

I like the concept of a comfy leather chair in the workshop, I’m still trying to set up my shed, have most of a mezzanine in, but no stairs yet

This sounds about as good as a week of hunting.

Super fun! A buddy with mills and lathes is very handy to have, I have one who has shortened driveshafts, modified alternator pulley’s, and even trimmed the crooked end off of a 357 magnum seat die.

Awesome !! This is what I am working towards, I am building my gunsmithing shop as we speak, then a mill and a lathe and...

Can’t wait to see the projects you crank out

I’m still a slob and need to clean and organize more, but it’s taken 2.5 years since I moved in to get this far unpacked.

Special thanks to all the machine shop organizational advice from the @flying sailor !

I probably should empty my storage room of all the excess taxidermy and hang it up to clutter the workshop?

Awesome LED lighting by @John the Electrician ’s crew!

And spill something non descript on the floor, plus a little bit of ceiling spatter. Something that signals to the casual visitor that you aren't afraid to take a little risk and side step common sense safety protocols. And you seem to have an ample supply of arrows. That tells everyone that you aren't afraid to abandon technology in order to kill game and that you might also fling stones at any unauthorized visitors.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
