Definitely planning to stop in..Hello @etsonaut
Come see us at booth #1755 at the SCI in Nashville. We would love the chance to meet you and talk a little African hunting! Here is a short video for you to enjoy that will give you an idea of what is in store for you on a Cape buffalo hunt with us!
Really? That's great. Send me a PM sometime and maybe we could chat.Welcome to AH! I’m in the Chattanooga area myself.
Hello! Australia Water Buff is on my short wishlist too..G'day from Australia
I'm a born and raised Tennessean. Chattanooga area. Husband and father of two amazing sons. I love to hunt almost anything and am planning my first African adventure with a buffalo priority and Eland/Kudu secondary. I'm a big bore lever gun weirdo and wish they were practical (legal) for Cape Buffalo. I have read every word of every thread here regarding lever guns in Africa. lol. I do own a new Chapuis Elan Classic in 470 NE and I am learning to shoot it effectively. (Sometimes the hard way.) I will be attending SCI in Nashville this week. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this community and learn from those who have been there.
Wow. What were you doing in Chattanooga?Must’ve just missed you as we are in Chattanooga now, pm sent
Will do!Please stop by the @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS booth, number 1057. We can swap "new Chapuis owner" stories. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. Look forward to meeting you!
Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement. Choosing an outfitter is a daunting task when there are so many with great stories and credentials. It makes it even tougher that they are all actually nice too.. lol. I am a lifelong lover of big bore rifles but this is my first double. I would like to add a 375 double to the stable as well.Greetings etsonaut,
Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.
Looks like there are already a good list of fellow top quality safari companies reaching out to you.
So, I won’t attempt to steal you away from them.
It is almost impossible to go wrong booking through this forum list of sponsors and advertisers.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t do thorough research prior to sending your deposit.
I’m just saying that the safari companies that advertise in here are rarely disappointing.
Whomever you book with, you will be jubilant, the moment you set foot on the African continent.
It is just different there.
And, no matter who you end up booking with, I will always be happy to discuss equipment and other Africa related topics with you and / or anyone else really.
Also, the .470 double rifle has been properly clobbering African heavy, dangerous game, including countless buffaloes by now for over 100 years.
I predict that yours will serve you well in that category.
The rifle in my avatar was a .450 No2 NE, a ballistic twin of the .470 and it worked extremely well on the critters I shot with it (one buffalo + antelopes and zebra).
Antique double rifles are time machines and reproductions of them are almost the same.
My only double now is a more recent build like yours is.
Mine is a SxS in .375 H&H, by Franz Sodia of Ferlach, Austria.
And although not super old, nonetheless when I look at it, I am transported back to Africa, India, etc., during that time between the two world wars, when big game hunting was quite popular.
Anyway, cheers for now,
Velo Dog.
So far so good.. My first shot off the sticks was entertaining as it gave me a not so gentle kiss on my upper lip.. Haha. I looked like someone had punched me in the mouth.Welcome to AH, how do you like your Chapuis Elan? I have been thinking of getting on at some point.
