Greetings from the Peoples Republic of Austin,Texas

Plainsman, welcome to the AH forum! Looking forward to your input.
How about a little report and pictures from some of your Africa adventures?

Well, I don't have any recent trip reports, but I'm posting a picture with great sentimental value. Some of you may have known Simon Burgess, who was killed recently by an elephant in Zambia. I'm attaching a picture taken at the Kwalata camp in the Luangwa valley (ca. 2011 or 2012). Simon is second from the left. He was a remarkable professional hunter, and an intelligent, witty conversationalist in camp. He's sorely missed.

Welcome to AH !

I have visited this site for years, and always enjoyed the discussions, but for some reason I never had joined. Lurking is at an end. I'm in Austin, and have hunted Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia over the course of 9 trips. I'll be back in Botswana for #10 next year.

Hello Plainsman,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

We look forward to seeing photos posted and hunting yards spun.
And personally, I am always curious about what rifles, ammunition, iron sights if any, also optics, hunting shoes and various other related equipment that, fellow hunters use.

Cheers,
Velo Dog.

Welcome from a fellow Austinite. Having lived here for 27 years I am retiring and moving to Gillespie county this year. This is not the same town that it was when I was an undergrad in the early 70s. As Harry Selby said-“Too many people”.

I've been here since 1981, and the current place has nothing to do with the city I moved to. I frankly don't much like Austin any more, and have a large number for friends who are moving an hour away --- some to Fredericksburg and Kerrville, some to Salado. It's an interesting transition.

The good news is that your house is certainly worth a lot more than when you bought it.

That’s quite an understatement. Unfortunately, Fredericksburg is becoming a suburb of Austin.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
