Not sure why I haven’t joined this forum until now. I’m on a lot of various rifle related forums under the same username. Recently I’ve gotten the itch for plains game, and I’ve always loved medium and big bore rifles even if I’ll never actually “need” one.

Hope to go to Africa and hunt giraffe, onyx, eland, and Kudu at some point in the next 5 years. Open to suggestions as which country/s are best for that combo

Maybe some point I will hunt Cape buffalo, but I’m more interested in the plains game and exotic meats.

Glad to be here! Been reading up on this forum for years, great stuff

Good day! Welcome to AH!

Welcome. All the game I ate in South Africa was good, but Eland was the best. You'll enjoy it, especially when you've harvested it.

Welcome to AH, @Rifleman97. South Africa and Namibia both have the PG you listed. Lots of great sponsors on the forum have all you want and more.

G’day from Australia

That’s what I have heard! I’ve heard eland and giraffe were both amazing and I want to try both among others

Greetings Rifleman97,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Speaking of rifles, the .375 H&H is my favorite cartridge for hunting proverbial “Plains Game”.
This is primarily because eland sometimes weigh a bit over 2,000 pounds.
And so, for the all too common, quartering toward me angle, a 300 gr bullet at such moderate velocity will smash through the huge shoulder bones and properly damage the cardio-pulmonary process within these huge, delicious beasts.

Another important reason that I favor this cartridge so much is that, ammunition for it is very commonly available both in the parts of Africa where hunting is done and here in Alaska where I live as well.
Having a .375 handy is comforting, when some grumpy old grizzly wakes you up by loudly sniffing around your tent, during the wee hours.

Anyway, when you can spare a minute, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris website.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?

Tedd
