Granite Mountain Arms .404 Jeffery - Range Report

IdaRam, I can see why you currently like the 82-gr. load of H4350. But before you call it quits on load development, try bumping it up to 84 Gr. From past experience I believe you will tighten your group a little. The 84 Gr. load was given to me by Von Gruff who called it his "accuracy" load. Velocity won't
increase much. I get 2300 FPS from both of my 404(s) with sub-MOA groups. BTW I like your new purchase.

Did you order the action direct from Granite Mountain, or did your gunsmith handle it all? Several years ago I phoned GMA and asked about a 404J barreled action (the like Krieger barrels) and I think it was almost a one year lead time to get one.

All in one package with first class parts artfully put together in a stunning stock chambered for the very best of the best cartridges with accuracy that will bring many a smile and animals to grass.

Thank you @Shootist43 I’ll take your advice and experiment with the powder charge and see how the groups and parity between the solids and softs reponds.

I actually bought this rifle from Matt when it popped up on his website for sale. It was mostly what it is at that time. It just so happened it was exactly what I had been looking at building right down to the LOP and Krieger barrel (I too am a Krieger fan). Matt put on the desired finishing touches per my request.
I think GMA and Krieger have both been running in the vicinity of that 1 year backlog, although I imagine custom builders may get some preference in line as they are likely regular repeat customers and their livelihood depends on being able to get actions and barrels for their builds.
Matt currently has a number of custom rifles listed for sale on his website (listed under Gun Vault) from a few of the top custom rifle makers. MNR is a full service custom builder and gunsmith and will build from the ground up to your specifications. Here a link to his website:

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
