I have a feeling that the next month and perhaps more will be bringing news that gets worse by the day. In order to help keep our spirits up I'm proposing that we as a group share whatever good news we have. For starters I picked up another partially sporterized Swedish Mauser yesterday. This one is a Short Rifle variant made by Husqvarna in 1942. The only thing that was done to this rifle was that it is given a new stock. As far as I can see, everything else is as manufactured. Why did I buy another Swede? Well it was a "feel good thing." The only other Short Rifle version I own is in pristine full Military guise, and I have no intention of changing it. This new one however, is another story. Upgrades will be a matter of /for future consideration.

Excellent idea! I'm finalizing my plans to go see Greater Prairie Chickens in southern Illinois, and another trip to visit the "Snake Road" a couple weeks later.

I got caught having a snooze with my newest family members.

I got out of bed this morning feeling a day older, but healthy. The little woman and I had coffee watching the sun come up. Had a couple of eggs and whole wheat toast. Went to the basement and worked out for 40 minutes. Did a bit of case sizing and trimming. Resting up a bit now with my old dog on the couch next to me waiting for some lunch.

I feel good! I’m happy! Life couldn’t be better at home! I’m a lucky old man for sure!

I picked up my daughter from Boston college today. They closed the school. Got all four kids and wife in one house again.

Good idea!
I picked up a new CZ 550 in 375 H&H on Thursday! Looked it over and worked the action a few times and boxed it back up. It left Friday on it way to Wayne at AHR for a number 1 up grade plus glass bedding and a mercury reducer. Also the Talley QD rings came in and new Leupold VX5HD 2-10x42 CDS Firedot. Cant wait to get it back and together. Hope all this mess is cleared up and its back in time for June Lioness and Buffalo cow hunt.

Well Art I bought a new Ruger #1 last week.....like. Needed another one!

Come to think about it..........if getting a new firearm is a feel good thing I don’t know what is?

Just laid in a couple boxes each of Hornady 9.3x62 143 g ELD-X and Barnes 375HH 350 g TSX that will keep me busy playing with loads for awhile and take my mind off the world's troubles..

Glad you clarified about the GSP. Thought you might have caught him on top water. LOL

Charlie you need to discard that "needed another one" thought process and replace it with "need every one" ;)

I made the quick 4 hour drive yesterday from my Kansas place down to Amarillo and visited Gizmo at his new shop where he was slaving away remodeling his upstairs work space. And I picked up my 2018 mule deer :)

I had the pleasure of handing out 6 Graduation Certificates today.

The School year was cancelled as of today and all kids will be moved on to the next grade come September.

Might as well celebrate! :P Cheerleader:

Mine is a little different. In stead of buying a rifle, l sold one. Let me explain
I sold my first .257 Weatherby to a young man and good friend. I took him Antelope hunting last year for his first time. He took a nice doe and is hooked on Antelope hunting. He has hunted deer for years. Well for this hunt he used my .257. Afterwards he asked if it was for sale, knowing l got another one earlier in the year. I thought it was a good idea and a great home for rifle. Zack has a son that will be starting hunting in a couple years. What better place for this rifle to go.
A little info on the rifle. I purchased this rifle with the money from my youngest GSP first litter. First hunt with it l took and Antelope that just missed making BC. It went on to take several Antelope, mule deer, and a bull elk.
Now Zack and his son can continue the story of the fine rifle.

My new to me Ruger M77 in 250 Savage that I recently purchased should soon be here.

My .500 Jeffery is expected soon from my gunsmith..built on a ZKK 602...hoping Africa this year but we will see..

As I sit in my upstairs office reading these entries, I can hear the drumming of the rain on the metal roof of my ICF home and relish that I am not in a foxhole or Brokely turret moving down a Schnellstrasse somewhere. I have a hot cup of Joe and the woodstove kept the house warm all night. There is food in the house. I have a splendid wool jacket from Varustaleka to don when I go out to the woodpile for wood.

Having just received my FFL register, I suppose I will mosey downstairs to enter the first rifle I received - a .458 WinMag lengthened to .458 Lott - CZ550 action. The rifle shop is nearly done inside, needing the electrical feed cable from the house, the air compressor to be set/lines installed, and the bench vises to be set.

We are nearing the 2 month mark for the first safari (with Somerby). I can't control the quarantines, but did buy the "if the safari busts for any reason, I get my money back" insurance. We will get there eventually.

I could go on, but I think one can see I have many blessings!

I had a very positive experience with Delta airlines yesterday. They fully refunded a trip my wife and I had planned after the Army instituted a stop- move travel ban and assisted in rebooking my mom on flights to get out of Germany back to USA and got her upgraded to business class.

Great customer service- I feel bad for all the abuse the delta agents are probably enduring right now.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
