I ended up buying that m70 458. Got a quote for 750 from my smith to fully bed it cut to 20” crown blend a blued thread protector, and move the front sight back properly. His bed jobs alone are 325 and worth every penny. It’s a work of art what he does. Aaron Roberts near Houston. Highly recommend

Yessir. Silencerco hybrid. I pick up the rifle tomorrow and will drop it off at the smith in a week or two after I test some handloads to get velocities. Then will cut to 19.5”

I use it on my 375 ruger. It’s the difference between flinching and not flinching without and with the can respectively. Massive difference. I expect is should do much of the same on the 458 but the 458 will be lighter as well with a wood stock and red dot so I expect a bit more recoil. I only hunt with suppressors unless they are illegal where I’m hunting.

Yea, I used to brag that "I'll sleep when I'm dead," not where hearing protection for probably 45,000 shotgun rounds getting to this age, etc. Now with 60 staring me in the face, I'm growing up...and suppressors just make volume shooting more fun for me. I wish we had them when my daughters were real young amd learning to shoot.

The last 12 months have marked my entrance into medium and large bore rifles. Prior to this, I was a .300 win mag guy (still am) and had little need for anything larger. I can't imagine why you wouldn't use a can on .375 and up unless it is for looks. It does take the traditional look out. Recoil isn't a big deal to me and I am not a flincher really but why not tame a .458 with a can? Especially if it means your shot placement and overall accuracy (even enjoyment of shooting the gun) goes up. I jnow folks that spend thousands of dollars getting a gun tuned in, bedded, blueprinted, etc and won't consider a $1100 can. If you just can't swallow the optics of the look, ok...but for me, shooting is a discipline (almost religion) about accuracy and being able to be proficient with your weapon. Within reason, anything that is mechanical that helps me do that (better triggers, correct fitting a stock, upgrading a barrel) is good for me.

Yea for me if you want a collectors rifle for looks go for it. But for hunting, you should be using the tool which makes you the most effective. I’d a suppressor makes you shoot better, flinch less and get away with a more powerful caliber all other things equal, why the heck would you not use one? The only time I could see not using a suppressor is on a stopping double rifle where you cannot attach a suppressor and the plan is to never have to fire that gun and it’s just for emergencies. Aside from that, benefit from reduced recoil, protect your hearing and that of those around you, and shoot better. The only downsides are length weight and cost/paperwork. But with big bores you lose very very little velocity with length. I expect when I chop my 24” to 19.5” 458 win mag I’ll only lose about 75 fps or so which is very acceptable. I plan to be around 2300 with a 450 solid and 2350 with a 420 CEB raptor

As a left-handed shooter, I'm a Sako fan since they make rifles for me. My 85 Hunter in 30-06 is the most accurate rifle I own. As I surf around looking for other LH rifles, I rarely see Sako's with the larger XL size receivers. They are pretty uncommon.

here is a combo that a bunch of us are using: 404 gr Rock Hammer bullet backed up by CEB 400 gr .700 long nose solid makes a great combo for plains game or buffalo, I used it this past April deadly combo

The week or so before this listing popped up, it was on Guns International for 3k. Probably not original stock as it has a front swivel on the stock and the bbl band swivel. The 505 came with mercury in the stock and it was still light for caliber. My LH CZ 550 505 was 9lbs 14 or 15 ounces I think. I sold it awhile ago.
