Good Gun Deals This Week

I’m loving the conversion Renner did to my No 1 in .22 hornet. A light No 1 is the perfect platform for the hornet.

Current bid is at $3,425.00 with 5 days left; I'm sure yours was probably a better deal.

Spotted this at my local Cabelas today in Allen, Texas. Not a bad price on a Ruger No. 1, if you have use for the caliber and don't mind the muzzle brake. The scope was one of the old TV-screen Redfields.

I think theyre going to be holding onto that rifle for a while.. I saw it up there a few weeks ago and sent a pic of it to @Goopy (who I know loves #1's)..

between the 338 RUM (not much demand for that in TX.. or many other places for that matter), the brake, and the fact that a #1 isnt known to be a very recoil forgiving design... my guess is its going to sit on the shelf a while.. even at that price..

My thoughts exactly.

I agree. Try and find factory ammo and/or reloading brass at a REASONABLE price for the .338 RUM could be a quest in and of itself. Then you have the excessive recoil in the #1, although the brake would tame it down somewhat. I personally would pass.

Agreed, it’s gonna be there a while.

Reminds me of a rifle at McBride’s in Austin; it’s. Remington 700 in .416Rem with a muzzle brake and baby shit green paint job…..

I believe it’s been there for 7+ years now.

AH friends,

This is a great deal on a dangerous game rifle scope. It is a Leupold Patrol 6HD 1-6x by 24mm illuminated retical "Low Power Variable Optic" (LPVO) with a rock solid lifetime guarantee!
The sale price is $899 from Euro Optic. Regular retail price is $1400.

Here it is from the Leupold website:
https://www.leupold.com/patrol-6hd-1-6x24-illum-firedot-duplex-riflescope

Note: Leupold OCCASIONALLY offers these via their Military Discount program for $868. If you are active or retired military or military veteran, Law Enforcement, or firearms industry contact Leupold via this link: https://www.leupold.com/vip-program-info

The Patrol 6HD has capped turrets which I think is a heck of a lot better than any easily adjustable, make that accidentally adjustable elevation dial. But heck I might need a dial-e-que thingy for a 200 yard shot on a cape buffalo. :) That makes me laugh out loud! Keep it simple stupid!

Is 6x enough magnification for big mean critters within 100 yards? In Jack O'Connor's day it sure was. Today our rifles are on average more accurate, our projectiles are better, and we have more choices in cartridges we hunt with. Yes, 6x is plenty enough power for dangerous game. If I need more than 6 times magnification to make a shot, the game is too far away to be dangerous, isn't it? Oh, and if I have to shoot anything within 10 yards when I have a quarter second to shoot or die, I want a true 1x (actually zero) magnification rather than 1.75 or 2x!

A rifle industry design engineer recently asked me of what would be a high quality LPVO for their dangerous game rifles. This is what I recommended. One can buy a perhaps better LPVO at two to four times the price, but not me. This is what I spent my money on a few years ago...

PS: I have NO financial connection with Euro Optic, Leupold, of any other entity in the the firearms and/or hunting industry. That stated, I am available :)

That is indeed a good price. I have one of these on something, can’t recall which rifle, but believe it is a 375 H&H. It works just fine and I completely agree with the disdain for exposed turrets for DG rifles. I don’t even want to have to think about checking a zero stop etc. and (IMHO) are as visually appealing as a mud fence. Great for prairie dogs, paper, and guys that are really used to them, but seemingly out of place on a DGR.

This particular rifle model is very difficult to find, especially in .250-3000 Savage caliber, not to mention in decent, un-hacked, not abused condition.
In my shade tree opinion, this rifle is worth several hundred USA Dollars more than the asking price.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
