I made my reservations to the 2025 SCI Nashville Convention. This will be my 1st national convention. I'm planning on finding and booking a South Africa hunt for both Cape Buffalo and Sable. I've been to SA before on a Plains game hunt. But my dream hunt has always been for a big Cape Buff 42"+ and a respectable dark black Sable. Is this a good time to book a hunt for 2025 or should I plan on doing this ahead of time? I do have some outfitters I'm targeting, but I really wanted to meet them 1st. I'd hate to get to Nashville and find out that I waited too long, or am I planning it just right! Also any recommendations on SA Safari Outfitters for this dream hunt? Thanks!!!

That sounds fun.

You will find someone - January is not to late.

Sable hunting can vary in SA. Be sure you know what you are looking for and ask direct questions. The good ones will have no problem answering you in a straight forward manner.

I too want a 42+ Buffalo, but I would look at Rowland Ward requirements to qualify. Make sure your outfitter can meet those requirements.

Hi Harry. It's never too late to book a hunt. I'm sending you a DM. We have a great Buffalo Package available for 2025 and some real good genetics as well.

You are definitely not too late to book for next year. This year will be my first SCI show as well. I'm thinking I should leave my credit card at home!! lol

For South Africa you will be just fine! They raise both those species and unless you are going to hunt an NPNR, there is no such thing as "quota". In South Africa they will always be able to find another animal like you want;)

In Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe where the animals are essentially owned by the government there is a quota system so you need to book early enough before the quota is sold out. However for those species it is probably a safe bet they will be available at SCI as well. Sometimes lion are sold out for the year, perhaps elephant in certain areas, even leopard. But lots of those hunts are sold at SCI.

It can be hard to book on the year but with some persistence you may find what you are looking for. See you in Nashville!

While your there talk to Jacques at @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS. I hunted Cameroon with him in 2023 and am headed back to hunt again with him in 2025. Hard working and honest. You won’t go wrong. I intend on taking my entire family at some point as well.
I'll add them to my list, which is getting longer by the minute.... LOL!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
