Buddy of mine bought a Ruger African in 35whelan
Looking for a gloss scope that would be appropriate for it. Unfortunately I do not see any one making new gloss scopes ,,, or maybe we ain’t looking in the right spot.

I've always had an affinity for the older, gloss Vari-X III 6.5 x 20 variables. One of my older scopes developed some issues. I sent it in and they wouldn't repair it, just replaced it with a new Vari X 5HD which wasn't a bad deal, just that I kind of like the old gloss scopes.

+1 eBay. I have 2 Vari-X 3iii 1.5-5 gloss scopes purchased on eBay. They are 1” tubes but that’s what I was looking for.

I have not tried them yet, but I have heard US Cerakote will custom treat your scope with a gloss finish.

Pricing:

Scope - $100

Rings / Bases - $20 per pair

Talley Style Rings - $30

Shipping - $15

Having a gloss scope is like having a dog that barks at cars...............but I do have a 6.5X20 for sale.........FWB

Send the details I will pass it along.

Watching ebay,
But I would think some one would make a shiny scope to go with shiny metal. I guess the mattel/barbie gun era is to far upon us

Someone needs to continue to make a glossy scope for glossy rifles.

(Mark V Weatherby's, Remington 700 BDL's, older rifles, etc.)

Leupold could own the market with a really durable 1 inch diameter 1.5-5x20 and a 3.5-10x40 3HD in a glossy finish.

My suggestions to them have gone ignored...

I'd be fine with Zeiss, Swarovski, Trijicon....

A Leica should work perfectly, however.

My Leica compact binoculars have never failed me.

Beware of eBay for scope purchases.

I have purchased 2 counterfeits.
1 - Leupold
1 - Sig Sauer

It took way too much "verification" to get my money back...

@62flint - you can find excellent condition used scopes on Ebay or GunBroker. I also prefer a gloss scope, I’ve purchased used or ANIB Leupold Vari III 2.5-8 36m objective (1” tube) and they have worked well on my heavier caliber rifles (.45-70, .375 H&H, .30-06). They hold zero, great clarity, trim & light weight.

Probably will go the used route. It’s just surprising that no manufacturer is making any

Leica is making them…. As mentioned twice on the thread
You are correct, but one company out of many. Times are changing. doesnt seem like that many years ago gloss scopes, blue steel and walnut stocks where the norm

Just making sure you saw my man.

You said “No company is making any” and just wanted to be clear

I like Gloss scopes on Classic rifles, I recently picked up a Redfield Widefield on E-bay that was virtually new

@62flint - thats because “ugly” now sells ie: flat black metal vs. blued, plastic stocks vs. wood etc.. I also prefer gloss black scope a top wood stocked rifle with deeply blued steel…but I’m in the minority.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
