I waited almost 10 months for my renewal to be approved. There seems to be little consistency to the approval process.

My appointment was 7 months in the making. Have it now since November '24. In time for my next trips. Fortunate because the CBP office is 20 minutes away, easy for me to carry a truck load of guns and get a 4457 almost anytime.

My wife got her's last fall. Came in 2 or 3 weeks after her interview. Only a week or so wait to get the interview appointment.

Mine was similar to what’s been posted. Coming back into the country from a family vacation, triggered the agent to ask if I would like to do my interview now. About 2 minutes and a picture later, I was done. Card arrived about a week later. Glad to have that done!

There is a fairly well documented trend of receiving conditional approval after leaving the country so you can do your interview upon returning.

It happened to me and a number of others on here.

This is how mine worked out. I applied around march and got conditional approval in oct while hunting in Spain. Landed in the morning, got the email the next evening.

I applied for Global Entry on 10/18/24, was approved in 2 days, and had my interview on 11/13/24. Card came in the mail about 10 days after the interview.

I was fortunate to get Global Entry before the rush a few years ago and it has been a travel game changer. I’ve had or have just about every type of government pass/badge or ID you can get and Global Entry just makes things so much easier. Gets you right to the front of the line and literally clearing back through in minutes…

Apply and continue to follow up until you receive your Global Entry card. I have a TWIC card for contractor access in certain facilities too, it also identifies with TSA. So those and Clear at participating airports are very helpful and convenient with getting on an outbound flight easily. AMEX Platinum reimburses you for Clear and Global Entry as well as getting you into many lounges. So that is also something to consider.

This past year mine as well as my girlfriends came up for renewal. Hers was processed in a couple of weeks while mine took over 8 months to renew. The good thing was that once I applied for the renewal and it was in the system I never missed a beat coming back to the US.

The process is slow to get approved however if you travel abroad stay the course as it will make your traveling a much better experience. The last several trips back to the US haven't had to show any documentation. Walk in front of a camera and here welcome home bypassing all the other travelers in a couple of minutes.

I should have mentioned earlier. If you don’t have global entry make sure to download the mobile passport app. Last time I came into Dulles the line for that was actually shorter that global entry and moving almost as fast.

That’s why this forum is so good. Upon reading everyone’s issues with global entry renewal I went ahead and checked mine and saw that it was expiring in May 2025.

I’ve just entered my renewal application and I’m in the queue for interview. I will come back and give updates as I get them. Thanks for the reminder as I’ve completely had forgotten about the renewals.

That’s what I was referencing earlier. I have global entry but the last time I flew into Dulles the line for MPC was way shorter and moving very quickly. I would try it if I didn’t have global entry.

I used it this past summer when I flew into Seattle from Doha on my return from Botswana. I have global entry but tried the MPC app and the whole thing went just as fast as global entry. Only problem is not a lot of places have mobile passport yet I don’t think. My wife doesn’t have Global Entry but I do so it always slows us down as I go with her thru the slow line when traveling together. We fly home from Europe in December flying into Salt Lake and wanted to try MPC with her but customs in SLC didn’t have the mobile passport kiosks, bummer!

While thats fast, nothing is faster than Global Entry Mobile (assuming you have set up your profile). While still on the plane you are clearing Immigration and walk to the officer and just show your phone and go. Now, if the carriers could get the luggage off the plane faster and to the carousel.
