Georgia Blues..

Congratulations on your move down South. I bet your tax savings in moving out of the State of New York will easily pay for a first-class safari plus travel. I recently read a few articles where people are exiting the high tax states in the Northeast in droves. Good for you and your family!

Delivered from the heart of darkness! I have never minded visiting Yankees from time to time - hell I am married to one (though perhaps she has achieved redemption- she loves Texas as much as me), but I think you will find living among a civilized people a positive, life changing event.

Now I Could not have said that more politely myself. Obviously concur with your visitation assessment!

Gives me a lot more room. Currently I have 54 trophies with 8 more coming from my last safari. We are going to have the trophies delivered in early August while we are there shopping for furniture etc. House just repainted so were good to go. And if I run out of space on the terrace level there's always the great room. MAYBE..... I lost that fight with Mrs. Blues to have the entire collection on the main floor:(

We really look forward to the new setup and how all the taxidermy looks in the new digs!!

It's not that hard- do it yourself :D I moved 64 mounts last Aug

LOL..Ya the heat shouldn't be a big problem.. NY gets pretty hot too... My house is in Acworth. Love to have you stop in once were settled. JB

Conveniently close to the Cabelas! Sounds like we need a GA AH get together!

Welcome to Georgia! As an Atlanta native, I can say its not all humidity and traffic jams. What part of town did you settle in? We’ll have to introduce you to the local haunts such as Chuck’s Firearms, Adventure Outdoors, Riverbend Gun Club and the myriad BBQ joints around town!

Definitely!

Lots of wild hogs down there to keep you sharp for Africa.
Congrats on the new house.
A few pics of the trophy room when you get settled would be nice.

Yes sir thank you.

Johnny, I'm in Savannah, my son lives in Roswell.

Coming from NY, WELCOME, GA has no gun laws to speak of. Get residency, get a carry permit, go shopping and get some guns for fun and practice! Recnetly my son took a friend from New England to a gun show and the guy was amazed!

The Walking Dead was started in Georgia - we take our zombies seriously! LOL.

Welcome, enjoy.

Thank you sir. Yes I plan on applying for a carry permit once settled in. I also promised my wife a trip to savanna. Please stop by if your ever up my way. JB

FYI - I'm a born and raised Upstate New Yorker, married to a SE coast Georgia girl.
Currently splitting the difference in Virginia.

Embrace your inner Redneck and enjoy your new digs.
Along with the CCW, Georgia allows owning and hunting with a suppressor. (y)

You will want to check out Savannah on St Patrick's Day.
Biggest party outside of Boston, MA.

Well my friends it's official, we just went to contract on our house here, so we will be departing the big apple for the peach state August 23 rd. Saturday Trophy Transport is picking up my trophies ( agh the anxiety ). We will fly down in early August to buy furniture etc and have my trophies delivered then. Hope to be able to get together at some point in the near future to meet any members living in proximity to me.
Now you can just hop on DL200 and be in Africa! Happy moving.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Trophy Transport, they did an amazing job moving my trophies yesterday. Took all day but they were as cautious as possible and secured
Everything Very well. I was a bit taken back when the truck pulled up and saw a woman driving. My first thoughts were oh there must be two men and her....Nope she and another wirey fella worked like bulls! Bought them some good New York pizza for lunch. Much appreciated.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
