I'd like to say this surprises me but I recall Sportsmans claiming bankruptsy and planning on shutting their doors in '09. Amazingly they got back on track. Then Bass Pro and Cabela's moved into Anchorage and I figured there wasn't room here for all three. So my guess was Sportsman's was going to go. Amazingly it's done fine, but with this I wouldn't be shocked if it closes doors here soon. The Fairbanks and maybe Wasilla one will probably remain, there's no BPS or Cabela's up there.
The quality, selection, product warranty, and shopping experience of Cabelas/BPS has never been lower. I used to spend tens of thousands of dollars a year in their stores (ten years ago) and now I bet I spend under $200 per year on their junk. No thanks.
