From Ohio, on wheels!

Welcome to AH @Pathfinder19 ! Nice to have you on the posting side, looking forward to reading your posts.

Welcome to the best forum in the world!

Greetings from Ohio. My love for Africa truly began when I was awarded the Safari Club International Pathfinder award in 2019, and subsequently hunted with Oelofse Hunting Safaris in late 2021.

I use a wheelchair full-time, and was most apprehensive but now I’m hooked and sure hope to return some day.

I'm a bit late in welcoming you, but nonetheless welcome to AH!

Welcome to the site. I assume you are
Wheelchair bound? Please tell us more about yourself and how you got to this point.
I was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele and have used a wheelchair since age 5. I’m in my late thirties now.

I volunteer with an organization near my hometown in NW Ohio called Hunters Helping Hunters, and that volunteer work was one of the reasons I qualified for the Pathfinder award

Welcome aboard Pathfinder19. I too use "wheels" to get around especially for distances over a hundred yards. My condition is deteriorating but it doesn't totally preclude me from hunting. If you talk to your outfitter ahead of time and be honest with him, I'm sure that "he" will be more than happy to accommodate your physical challenges. BTW this assumes you are already planning a return trip. You are, aren't you??
I’m saving my pennies for a return trip!

Welcome to AH. It would be great to see a report. I’m glad they made it a successful safari for you. My first safari when I was 13 was with Jan oelofse hunting safaris. Couldn’t have picked a better hunt at the time. 80k acre main property with elephants and rhinos. I always read their newsletters on their website but you hear very little of them on here. The same PHs are still there from 20 years ago that I hunted with, but they look a lot older now.
I harvested 13 animals, 10 different species. Oelofse Hunting Safaris is superb! The lodging is top notch (better than any hotel I’ve stayed in the USA), food is first class, and the animals are numerous with many trophies. Several of their PHs have been there over 20 years, which is, in my opinion, indicative of great leadership there.

If I were to return (hopefully), I would definitely hunt with the Oelofses again.
