My own VC came with a plastic case with no padding. Much like you get with a run of the mill Beretta Silver Pigeon SG.

Double rifle ownership is super fun. You friend will enjoy his 470. Now about this wedge. My Sabbatti doesnt have it but a 500NE Heym that I was VERY close to buying last month did have a wedge sticking out a fair amount. About 5-8mm
