Hullo everyone. I've got a friend in the UK who's never fired a gun before and wants to give it a go. Unfortunately, aside from being in the UK (I don't live there and don't really know gun rules or locations), he's got scoliosis and is worried about being able to hold a rifle and deal with recoil, and he's concerned about people laughing at him and criticizing him for his medical problems.

I've assured him that there are ways to work around his medical issue and make shooting comfortable for him, but now there's the issue of him not having a location for shooting. So I figured I'd try and ask around here if there's anyone on here who can help him the guy out.

PM me with further details if you're able to help, please.

Thanks all,

I have a good friend who instructs at H&H. Prince of a guy and would be very good with your friend. Unfortunately H&H is not cheap. If he is interested let me know.

Thanks WAB. It might be a little expensive for him but the first thing he said when I shared the H&H tuition pricelist was "Better start saving now!" I think it's safe to say he's interested, haha.

One thing I can virtually guarantee is that your friend will not be laughed at; instead, I would be very surprised if he didn't receive wholehearted support and encouragement. Depending on his location, I cam recommend Corinium Rifle Range (near Cirencester); it's a well-equipped range and the owner is an excellent coach. Introductory courses are available with rifles from .22RF to .375H&H.

Gentlemen, I'd like to thank you for your kind replies and suggestions. Another user on here has also PM'd me, and I just want to say that I'm pleased with and grateful to all of you for actually helping instead of making silly and unhelpful replies like "Well you can't just turn up at a range and shoot in the UK". True as it might be, I'd have been disappointed if I'd received any answers like that. It proves to me that I'm not wrong in thinking the people on here are of a calibre I am pleased to be acquainted with. My friend would like to extend his thanks and appreciation too.

I'm surprised that some of our English friends haven't replied.
