ALAS! If you are not a US citizen, don't bother. Sorry, Johnny, that, of course, is the sponsors' doing, not yours, but it is a cause for regret for us non-US hunters. I would have so liked to try my luck, the hunt sounds incredible (Pinch-me-I'm-dreaming, I-must-have-died-and-gone-to heaven-incredible). Well, back to putting pennies in the piggy bank and hoping that someday...

Timbear, thanks for saving me the time.

Thanks Johnny Vivier for letting us know about the contest, here's a chance for those of us that was going to sit out 2012 WHO KNOWS MAYBE NOT.

Good luck to you guys that enter, It looks like it should be a great opportunity.

yuk, i think they don't like hunters from holland...

While this is a great offer and good luck to all who enter.

I do not want to bust anyone bubble. however the tax collector will be watching such a valued event.

The tax man will come in 2013 and who ever is the lucky winner will be on the hook for about $13,000 in taxes (depending on the state you live in)...so save your pennies to make sure you have the money for the tax bill.

Most on here can go on safari for less that than $13,000 and have a great time.

Now if you lived up here James the winner would not have a tax bill!

Neat offer. If I win, can I just hunt with my friends? :)

You are right about having to pay taxes. However, I think your estimate is a bit high. They value the entire prize at $25k and it is for two. Depending on each person's tax bracket and the fair market value of the prize at the time they take possession, I would expect the taxes on that trip to be around $3-5k each. Hell, even if you pay 50 percent of the FMV, you have a hell of a trip for $6k.

I think it's a great offer. There will be low odds in winning...hey it's a contest...that Scentblocker is obvisously help advertise and pay for the hunt too. I wish the winners of the hunt the best of luck on their trip to Africa.

i still would love to win and enter the contest, but i'm living in holland and they don't allow hunter from outside the us
well, the 3trd of november 2011, i'll travel to klerkdorp south africa to hunt for 10 days on a row again, so who needs contests ;)

Ah, I'm dreaming. I already plan on being in SA and Namibia Aug./Sept. of 2012 anyway, so fitting this hunt in also, would be really easy. 21 days of my trip and 9 days for this trip. 30 days of Africa hunting, OH MY! What a DREAM!

Good luck to all who enter.

Well, I went ahead and thru my name in the hat. I'll worry about the taxes when my name is drawn. Needless to say, I won't spend another minute worrying about taxes!!!

Good luck to all our US members that put their names in the hat!
I hope one of you will be the lucky winner and writes a great hunting report about it when you come home:)

Too bad only for U.S. Might have to switch scent killers

Taking nothing away from the prospects for our US members - really guys, but opening up such a magnificent competition / prize and 'disqualifying' all other nationalities really does leave a bad taste.

With the advertizing there will be a slim chance of wining this great package.

Fhm3006 ... you have a valid point and many of our northern hunters are excluded also...

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
