Well PHOENIX PHIL thats where your wrong, Uncle Ted if he is a member of AH has the same rights we do for entering these contest BUT!!! take a closer look at the picture if I read it right the hunter in the wheelchair is the hunter and Uncle ted is helping a Handicapped Hunter fulfill his dreams.

Bob, I was pretty certain that squirrelsbiz was the one posting the picture and not Ted. It was a lighthearted post intended only to point out that Ted was indeed in the picture. I noticed nobody else had noticed for over a day that the Nuge was also in the picture, that was all there was to the post. You might have noticed the smilies I used.

And yes I did notice the wheelchair. As far as I'm concerned it would be great if Ted was a member here.

I bet it was a blast. Beautiful animal by the way and I admire you for not letting the wheelchair hinder you from hunting!

Ted Nugent took me and my 3 brothers and all 4 of us have Muscular Dystrophy and are in wheelchairs and my Dad went with us in Oct 2008. Ted Nugent took us down to Texas to Knowlton's Laguna Vista Ranch by Pearsall, Texas. Pete Odland who owns Whites Bridge Tooling in Michigan build what is called a Liberator which holds the T/C gun or a crossbow just for this hunt. Its ran by a joystick and has a camera with a small screen hooked to the scope so you can see the animals and cross hairs. With all of us we were able to shoot 13 animals. This Sika was about a 100 yards away and it took one shot with a T/C 270 hooked to the liberator shown in pictures. It was an awesome time with uncle Ted. Ted is my Blood Brother for ever. I really want to do some hunting in Africa.

Very cool squirrelsbiz. I'm certain there are outfitters who have built blinds or hides as they're called in Africa over waterholes so perhaps that would work. Looks to me like the T/C, the electronics and the actuators would fit into a gun case and luggage easily enough. The frame might be a challenge, perhaps you could ship that. It looks to be aluminum so it wouldn't be too heavy. Is that a battery below and to the right of the gun?

Yes Phoenix Phil that is a battery. I have a smaller shooting system that mounts to my wheelchair that will be easier to pack. Would I have problems getting the battery into Africa.

I don't know. I would think the hunting tv shows would be packing batteries for their cameras so I wouldn't think so. But that's just a guess.

Hello Guys,

I just got back to South Africa yesterday! I could not believe my eyes when I saw the ranch, we had more than 700mm of rain since I left and it is jus absolutely beautiful! Everything is green the animals are in great shape and I am looking forward to a very busy but great hunting season. Thank you for you all entering the competition and best of luck to each eand every one of you guys.

This is my youngest son's first big game animal. The back-story to this hunt begins when my son was barley able to walk and I would take him into the woods with me, usually gun or bowhunting for whitetail. We had so much fun and share many fond memories of those days. As he grew older, he would ask, "can I shoot a deer this time", and of course my reply was always "I'm sorry son, your not old enough to hunt" (in Michigan you had to be 16 at the time to hunt big game). This went on for several years and always ended with the same disappointing answer. Finally one day he asked "how long do I have to wait until I can hunt a deer?" Now I can tell you that telling a kid that's eight years old that he has to wait another eight years (which is the entire span of his short life to date) is like telling him you can go hunting in a gazillion years! It is truly crushing. I slowly noticed that my son was loosing interest in tagging along on our frequent deer hunts, and because of those archaic laws we had at the time, I was loosing a future hunting partner. I immediately knew that I had to make this right. I formulated a plan, made some phone calls and book a boar hunt on a ranch in Northern Michigan. We had fun preparing for my son's first hunt. He was excited about every aspect of the prep work and practiced his shooting and even helped load the rounds he would be using for the hunt (which was a .264 Win Mag). His big day arrived on a crisp fall morning, which was made even better due to the fact that he was missing school to go hunting with dad! My son did eventually get his hog after a hard says hunt, and I got a hunting partner for life. The bait was taken, the hook was set, and the rest is history. My son is now 18 and has been hunting with me ever since his "Big Game Hunt" (and coincidently, our state changed the age limit shortly after due to pressure from dad's like me who give a damn about hunting) We had a father & son South African safari booked for this summer (as a graduation gift for all his hard work and effort), but things happen and life has a strange way of destroying the best laid plans and our trip will not be possible this year due to an unexpected lay-off. Maybe next year if things work out.

Nice - very nice! What did you use for the buffalo? The PH that I had in Matetsi Reserve-Zimbabwe does a lot of fishing on the Zambezi River- and he always says "Its easy on the Zambezi".

The smile on your son's face is priceless. My dad never had the time nor the inclination to take me to the "great outdoors" so I basically became a self taught hunter and sportsman. My son is a different story - he loves to shoot and he is a better shot than I am (but don't tell him!) Keep up the great work and and remember that good things have a way of happening to good people - so keep up the good work.

my sons first harvest

I got to take my son to new mexico on a youth hunt.WE went with a guide in unit 13 with a muzzlerloader on public ground.WE hunted in the morning seeing nothing but knew the elk were around us.AS we headed to or glassing spot to look for an elk we came across this bull.I can still see my sons face when the guide pointed him out and ask my son if he wanted to try for him.When he asked his leg started to shake as he shook his head yes.The elk was across the canyon from us.As we worked closer we realize there was no way to get to him so we would need to shot across at him.As we set up the tripod and my son got ready I ranged him.This is the best part as when I ranged him it showed 286 yds.When I ask if he could make the shoot he looked at us an smiled and shook his head yes.Know you must understand we shot 2 times a week or more and in 6 month my son has shot more then 250 round at the range with this gun.The elk could not have been nicer as he stood up from his bed he put his head behind a bush so all my son saw was body and no rack.Told him to breath and but the 3 bar of his scope on the shoulder and squeeze.The 150 grain charge sent the 260 grain bullet on its way.After the smoked cleared we seen the bull turn around and lay down like nothing happen.As we watched he layed his head down and nevered moved from there.I think the smile in the pic shows how happy he was but he still has no idea why i was so happy since I did not get to hunt.I can honestly say this elk hunt means more then any animal I ever taken by myself.My son know wants to watch me hunt as i have never harvested a elk this big and he thinks it my turn.I have one great kid that one day will understand what I mean when he has a kid of his own.The guide named him sharp shooter after the shot.Tell this was like being there all over hope all enjoy the pics and story.thanks Billc
