Hunted five straight days in -17 degree temps (windchill) from daylight til dark before I was lucky enough to take this Alberta mule deer. Took him on Thanksgiving Day in 2015. One of those once in a lifetime pics that we didn't even mean to take. The outfitter was just snapping pics and the flash didn't go off on this particular one.
"Giving Thanks at Last Light"
This is my Dad, he always works to put everyone else on the good spots. We have a place way up in the mountains of New Mexico, Dad knows where the elk are, and he put everyone else on the elk. This is his first Bull elk, he took it with a muzzle loader at 50 yards, tracked it for 45 min and put it down when he caught up to it (first shot was a lung shot, elk are hardy animals). He was a happy man! If picked, I'll give the trip to him (with permission) and pay his airfare. He loves to hunt and has always wanted to go to Africa.
This is his gut pile, we have a running joke with a family friend that "happiness is a big ole pile of guts". I got him a T-shirt made with this on it (for camp, not really a shirt to wear to the mall).
We have a few cancelation dates open for June and July if anyone is interested in a short notice hunt, we can add in a few hunting days for free to sweeten the deal!
17-25 June
possibly 18-25 July
28 July -Aug 2nd
1-10 September
