FRANKFURT FIREARMS NEW FORMS

Thanks BRICKBURN!

Here below is the form in a pdf format...

welcome to Germany.... I just don't understand the difference between the first and the second form, since the first one mentioned "Verbringen von Feuerwaffen durch die Bundesrepublik Deutschland", meaning "transport of firearms THROUGH the Fed. Rep. of Germany" as well....

But, nevermind, Mrs. Stock will be right.

(I think, should I ever want to hunt with a firearm outside of Germany, I will borrow a gun... just to avoid this mess)

Zabi, After reading a translation of the Weapons Act I got a suspicion that the word "through" and "transfer" was being used in some manner that I did not understand.

After looking at the old form and the first replacement provided there did not appear to be any request for information about arrival and departure from Germany.
The "through" or transit part to me.

On to the problem at hand. Translations I can get thus far. It appears Ms. Stock's new suggestion is contemplating arrival by truck transport and not an airline.

Zabi, can you please let me know what Section 4 says. If it makes no sense I am sending another email to Germany.

Thanks for your help.

My translation thus far: German/English
1. Herkunftsstaat
State of Origin.

2. Angaben zur Person
Personal Information.

3. Beschreibung der Waffen/Munition (bei sonst. Waffen nur Angaben von Anzahl und Art
Description of arms / ammunition (with usual weapons only information on the number and type)

4. Grund der Mitnahme WHAT IS ALL THIS????

5. Entscheidung anderer EU-Mitgliedstaaten
Decisions of other EU Member States

6. Erlaubnis für gültig bis
permission for expires

7. Verlängert bis
extended until

This new form is in fact not very different from the first one.

in No.2 you should not forget to mark either "private Person" or "Waffenh舅dler", which means professiona weapons dealer.

3. Beschreibung der Waffen/Munition (bei sonst. Waffen nur Angaben von Anzahl und Art
Description of arms / ammunition (with usual weapons only information on the number and type)

Nearly correct.
With "sonst. Waffen" or "sonstige Waffen" they seem to refer to those categorie D which we learned in the first form.

4. Grund der Mitnahme

This just means "reason for transport", which I would simply answer with "hunting trip".

----

As the first form, this one does not require any arrival/departure dates, I would guess that this is a universal form, regardless if you fly or drive or maybe even travel through other countries of the European Community.

I requested assistance from Sabrina to check the form for me and got no reply.

The form has been completed and sent to the Transfer email address suggested.

We'll wait and see.

Brickburn,

I have tried all FOUR phone numbers of the Frankfurt authorities several times for the last 3 days, and no one ever answered the phone...
I'm sorry I don't seem to be able to help you :(

So, let's see if they have objections or if you pass...

Thanks for giving it a whirl Zabi.
I guess she really meant it. Don't contact us for four weeks.

I wait.

I have indeed found the proper application form for transiting Germany.

I am going to create an English version of a completed form so everyone can avoid the fun I have had.

There is no place on the form to state how long you need the permit for. ie Duration for a longer trip.
The old form had this addressed by providing flight dates outward and inward.

I am going to have to ask for an extension somehow. I have replied with my questions about credit cards and getting a longer date for expiration.

This is the note that came along with my German Permit. Note the after the fact demand for money!

Ladies and gentleman,

you applied for a permit to transport weapons through the Federal Republic of Germany.

The application was granted with the permission attached to this e-mail.

For this permission you have to pay 25,56 € (twenty-five Euro fifty-six Cent) according to the § 50 of the german weapon law.

Please be so kind to send the money up to 4 weeks on the following account:

to: Ordnungsamt der Stadt Frankfurt am Main
bank: Postbank Frankfurt am Main
BIC: PBNKDEFF
IBAN: DE95 5001 0060 0007 1496 02
bank number (BSB) 500 100 60
Account 7149-602
Reason: 32.22.11-Transfer

This is a standardized demand for payment which was exceptionally formulated in English. Please note that the official language of weapons Authority of Frankfurt am Main is basically German.

Kind regards

Attached is the template.

A few comments:
Note the "X"'s
Section 2
Section 5

Section 3
Category C is typical hunting rifles.

Then quantity.
Since most African countries only allow one of any caliber this will be (1)

This is filled out for NON EU Countries of origin.
Also, not arriving from another or through another EU country.

Section 6 & Section 7 are for the authorities to fill.

Hope it helps.

Brickburn ~ I'm dealing with the same frustration/confusion you've experienced! I have the new permit in hand for my client but how did you solve the payment issue - must it be wired in advance?

Lori, They sent an email as in Post #28 this thread.

Bank transfer to the account provided with the reference information.

POST PAYMENT. The "standardized demand for payment".

I got no confirmation that they ever got the money and I am left assuming they have.
I will take my receipt along with the permit and show up in Frankfurt and I'll let everyone know if I end up in jail.

Thanks - I was just hoping there was an easier method of payment - foreign bank wires can be very difficult for a lot of folks!

They can be trying. But that is all they would accept and I was not going to argue.

NO credit cards, NO cheques.

For the $35.00 CAD wire amount it cost me $25.00 CAD to send the money.

Update:
Apparently I sent so many copies of the various forms I provided enough information that my final application could be processed.

My friend was just asked to reapply and provide FLIGHT DETAILS IN SECTION 4.

"Dear Mr.X,

Please send the application to re-add and please provide the following information:
............in section 4 arrival and departure for return flight at Frankfurt airport. Thank you"

My great grandfather left Hanover for America before the turn of the LAST century. I think I am glad he did!! Too bloody complicated.

Someone created a new form and did not think it through. Typical.
Once they get the new process down it will not be too bad. But in the meantime while it gets worked out....

We are filling this German Form out for the 1st time! I believe this Forum has address all questions except for one?
Section 3
Anlage Ja or Nein?
What is this asking for me to say Yes or No to?

Email that I received today from Sabrina Stock from Ordnungsamt Frankfurt am Main Transfer (Amt 32 email transfer@stadt-frankfurt.de)

Ladies and gentlemen,

Regarding the permits for travelling with weapons and ammunition there is a change in procedure.

No licence to take weapons or ammunition into or through Germany shall be required for weapons and ammunition taken on board ships or aircraft, kept in locked storage while within the territory of Germany, reported without delay to the competent supervisory authorities (customs) (including the manufacturer`s mark or trademark, caliber and serial number) and removed within one month from the territory of Germany.

This arrangement is valid immediately. Already applied and paid permit will be approved by me.

For the future you don’t need a permit for your hunters / shooters going to a hunting-trip / competition via Germany (travelling by airport Frankfurt), so that we won’t be working together frequently.

I hope this arrangement makes it easier for you J.

Nevertheless I would like to say THANK YOU for your cooperation and your friendliness!

Kind regards
Sabrina Stock

So do you take that as it's a requirement for you the traveler must inform customs if you leave the airport? If so, do you still need to report it if you don't leave the airport? It would seem a simple thing to do yourself, but perhaps this is why at least some airlines require that info before departure so that they do this too?

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
