Former SCI President kills wife in Zambia

Why do I have a feeling social media or email had a hand in this. What are the chances the US sent a forensic team to collect evidence and build a case?
You could well be right! Especially if some anti hunters decided they had to put pressure on the government to punish the evil hunter who happened to murder his wife.

Not exactly his first rodeo with the court system.

shocking.......

I don’t understand how you can be convicted of murder in Denver for something that happened in Zambia. Why wasn’t he extradited to Zambia and tried there? I don’t doubt that he’s guilty, but the US doesn’t have jurisdiction in Zambia unless there’s something that I missed.

Some decades ago, thus I can't quote the law verbatim. In Brief:

An American can without consequence under U.S. law plan to kill any other nationality any where in the world. They can be prosecuted if applicable under that nation's law(s).

Should that person or persons execute such plan on U.S. soil, to include any territory can be punished for murder and other crimes under U.S. laws.

Should the person or persons execute such a plan they can be extradited, if applicable, to such country for prosecution for crimes.

Should an American plan or violate any crime associated with the killing of another American regardless where the murder or plan to murder were to be committed on U.S. soil or territory or other country the person or persons are prosecutable by a [Federal] U.S. court on U.S. soil or territory.

Basically, hypothetically, with stipulations according to international agreements between the U.S. and other foreign countries, I can plan to harm a foreigner and not be charged with any crime under U.S. law.

As such I do execute my plan on that nationality's soil or territory I can be detained, arrested, jailed/ put in prison, tried, and penalized under such country's laws.

Should I execute such a plan against a foreigner on U.S. soil or territory I can be arrested, etc, etc, under applicable U.S. Laws.

Should I plan and/or execute such a plan to cause harm to another American, again depending on what country I am in, and applicable foreign country's international agreements with the U.S. or should I plan such attack on U.S. soil or territory I can be fully prosecuted under applicable U.S. Laws.

Things like (if any): extradition agreements, friendly informal agreements, various international laws and any other reciprocating agreements, etc., etc., etc., variables come into play as to jurisdiction, etc., etc., etc..

Wife and I are both stuck in the house sick so decided to check out this Dateline.

How did they get a a-5 through JBurg? If you are going on to another country can you take a semi auto?

If they were packing to leave. I would think they would have double and triple checked to make sure the gun was unloaded before boarding a plane, If she would have shot her self in the chest through the case, the end of it would have been covered in “mess”.
I would have gotten kicked off of the jury, but would have taken thirty seconds to find guilty.

IIRC, if bird hunting in RSA, there's a process to bring a semi-auto shotgun. Maybe some of our RSA AH members can clarify.

My Ex Wife asked if I wanted to go to Scotland to hunt and tour Distilleries, my first thought was stags and scotch, next thought was scotch and stags, third thought was there is no way in hell that she is walking behind me with a rifle! But I almost fell for it!

Last time I hunted South Africa, an older guy in camp hunted with a Browning auto - he was there for a small cat slam. (He had hunted Africa many times before)

He loosened the nut on the magazine and the police thought it was a pump.

He was going to Zimbabwe after he finished with our camp to hunt lions with it!

He didn't even bring a rifle.

Obviously he wasn’t smart but he is guilty in the court of law. But innocent people are proved guilty all the time. Who heard him say he killed his wife? The only way to know if the shotgun blast was from 2-3 ft away is if they tested that exact gun. I’d like to know if they did test that shotgun. Hard to believe the gun wasn’t cleared before it was brought in doors.
This whole post is laughable.

I served several terms on the Board of the Colorado Outfitters Association and reached out to Larry when he was President of SCI for help with some USDA-Forest Service outfitting issues because SCI has a Washington, DC office. He was very helpful and even wrote a letter to the FS and got SCI’s lobbyist team involved as well. I thought he was a good guy at the time.

Then came the record book scandal in which he and a friend were allegedly registering each other’s animals so as to increase their species lists and SCI awards. I was shocked and dismayed and was further shocked and dismayed by his wife’s death. What a fall from grace! I would like to think he is innocent but after everything he’s been accused of and convicted of, it seems he’s guilty. Wow!

Wasn't he removed from office by the board for improprieties.

Boy,oh boy , true crime YT channels had a field day there, some comments and possible alledged channel owners could give the impression the " murder" of aninals were the worst bit of it all.
