Forget the headline but read this good news for traveling hunters. This does away with the “Phantom” AES gun registry that the govt has been trying to push on us for years.
Thanks to SCI for keeping us I formed with these regular emails!

Hate that they didnt get the 3 gun limit thrown out.. but on a personal level that honestly doesnt impact me.. Ive never traveled with more than 2 personally, and 3 professionally.. and I've been traveling with firearms for the better part of the last 30 years.. I just dont like any govt infringement on rights and Im sure it impacts other people even though it doesnt impact me..

the rest is fantastic news.. good on SCI for taking the fight to Commerce..

BIS and DDTC (state dept bureau that oversees exports, both temporary and permanent) have been going through an upheaval of policy and process for almost 15 years.. the Obama administration started an extensive review of export policy in 2009 and started the "export reform initiative" that same year.. Trump then passed the export reform act in 2018.. Biden then reversed course on many of the ERA actions during his term.. and now Trump is reversing those reversals and moving things back in the direction intended by ERA..

All of which has made a complete and total mess of US export controls policy and procedure... Im hopeful they will finally get all of the changes ironed out during this administration and people can start knowing and understanding what all the rules are without having to worry about whether they will change again in 6 more months..

WOUNDER IF AN EXTRA BARREL COUNTS AS A "FIREARM" AS IT DOES IN SOUTH AFRICA OR ARE WE JUST COUNTING RECEIVER/TRIGGER GROUPS.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
