Can you tell us how and when it became a wby?

While you can shoot 300 H&H in a 300 Weatherby, you can't shoot 300 Weatherby in a 300 H&H.

You need to check that barrel stamp.

Kenya huh? He’s good

Lots of 300 H&H rifles were reamed (ruined) to 300 weatherby.
Yes there were. I had one for a bit. But the barrel was stamped correctly.
I would like to hear from the OP how and when it got converted

Get me your address and I'll come over and verify that rifle for you.

If not me I know that we have a number of members in the Denver area that would be happy to do it.

To be fair he could be old enough to have hunted Kenya before the ban. I could’ve jumped the gun but the OP definitely needs to elaborate some. I’ll apologize if I’m wrong.

I was wondering the same thing. I suppose it could have been rebarrelled, but I do not think any pre64 M70s were made in .300 Wby. I believe the Weatherbys were still.proprietary cartridges at that time.

It could make a good donor for a custom build but not at this price

Bear and elk hunting in Africa?
Best African trophy- Elephant but, not listed under species hunted in Africa.
I was hunting bears and elk in Zimbabwe. Don't know why we never saw any. Must have been further North, like Kenya. ;-)

sorry for the description mistake everyone, the rifle was given to me by my father in-law about 19 year now and i haven't given it that much thought or use cause he gave me that exact description, a change has been made and i added an extra photo to give some extra verification thanks.

That’s a 300 H&H in the photos. Mods need to check the IP address for the OP. I’d do an image search myself if I knew how to. @BRICKBURN

Relatively new member with a bunch of plain vanilla posts.. Now posting a rifle for sale? Typical scammer flags….
ok thanks for the blunt response sir, those photos were taken by me and you will only find them in my phone and computer..

At a minimum, if I were interested, I'd make sure to do a video call with the seller holding the item. To me the note looks photo shopped. I'm just north of Denver so if someone is really interested, I'd be willing to meet the seller to verify the rifle.

Yea.. When you zoom in the writing on the note looks like it was definitely done on a computer using the mouse. No flow through the lettering like it would be if it was handwritten. I’m technologically illiterate but the lettering looks pixelated, don’t know if that’s the correct term

The African bear has alluded me my entire hunting life... But I still love my trusty 300 H&W? First question that arose in the dark recesses: Did Winchester offer a 300 weatherby? ??
