Yes it has the thread protector. From the few shots I took with it, you'll like the break, i was surprised It kicks less than my 30-06.

The Weatherby Vanguard is a fantastic rifle and will shoot just as good if not better than any other rifle right out of the box.

I thought about it but I am in the process of downsizing but it would be a great elk rife or elk size animal rifle to have in the safe.
