I’m searching everywhere for this scope for my 458 B&M. This cartridge will break most scopes but not this one & is highly recommended by @michael458 . Does anyone know who has one that they are willing to part with? It must be the German #4 with illuminated dot version. Thank you.

CamoManJ, I have several DG Rifles topped off with the Nikon Monarch III African scope. They all have the German #4 reticle. I wasn't aware that Nikon offered an illuminated dot in this scope. As they say, "you learn something new every day." I don't know how many of these scopes were made but they do "take a lickin and keep on tickin." That is why most folks that have them are unwilling to part with them. FYI these scopes typically sell for 1&1/2 to 2 times their original price.

Same here. I have several and did not know about the illumination option. That would be a heck of a scope!

Well maybe I could be wrong about the illumination. I would be receptive and grateful for either version for that matter.
Thank you for your responses…

Here’s some local proof they exist from a previous post from Kid…I haven’t seen one in the flesh since before then. Good look on the hunt.

Since Nikon is no longer available, virtue signaling, I’d look at the Trijicon Credo.

I searched through the stash. One left, but not illuminated. A solid 1” illuminated would be a great scope for many applications. Good luck on the search. Report back if you find one!

I prayed bedside last night…to complete my B&M dream of a proper DR. I knew I had my work cut out for myself when I got into the B&M world. So they do have a version with illuminated reticles, so cool. That way you can see a red or green dot against a black buffalo hide.

I have the 1" African version on my Winchester 70 in 458 Win Mag. It's nearly indestructible. Good luck with finding one. The pop up for sale from time to time. Look thru eBay and other outlets, not just gun related sights. I found mine on eBay 4 years ago.

I wish I'da seen SAFARIKIDD's post back when he wrote it. That thing would have been mine in a heartbeat. Like I said in my previous post "you learn something new every day." CamoManJ I wish you good luck on finding this needle in a haystack. LOL

Well it looks like my prayers have been answered and the great AH community has blessed me with a Nikon African illuminated 1-4x24 scope. Special thanks & shout out to the great generosity of @Kdbull !!!

I’m still keeping an eye open for a backup and for my next upcoming B&M rifle project. Let me know if anyone else wishes to sell.

Thanks again, all of you guys for your help and kind words.

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!
