Listing for sale a Rigby rifle in 375 H&H.

circa 1925. I sent off for the letter from Rigby, and it appears like it was originally chambered in 350 Magnum, and rebored at some point. I don't have any further information on that, other than Diggory Hadoke said it was a fairly common alteration. It shoots very well. I haven't shot using the 300 and 400 leaves but the fixed 100 shoots well.

Weight: 7lb 14 oz
LOP: 15.25"
Barrel: 23.25"
Capacity: 5

Its in great shape for its age. Everything down to the ivory bead and the rear leaves seem to be in great shape. The wood is solid with a few nicks, the checkering is in good shape. Metals and blueing good, the end of the barrel blueing is worn. The barrel sling mount seems a bit worn to me but nothing to base it on. Flag safety with gold inlay in good shape. I had planned to send it off to JJ Perodeau and have him go through it and had not gotten to it yet. I am curious to know if anything else was changed. It appears to be all original but I am not an expert, someone on here will certainly know more than me.

Let me know if more pictures are needed or more information. I bought this rifle earlier this summer out of an estate sale with no plans to sell it. I was content to own a neat piece of history. But, some acreage that connects to the family properly has come up for sale and we are jumping on it, so a few things have to go.

Asking $7,500. Shipped and insured to FFL. Thank you!

Wow so wish I was in the States that would be gone!

I'm not sure about two traps. I should ask about that. There is a "trap" in the metal butt cap in the stock.

Thats a real dandy for a guy that may want to just open sight hunt with a balanced and all day carry 375,....hard one to give up I'm sure. I'm rich in 375's or it would be tempting.

Bump. Thanks for looking all.

It’s worth converting to .450 Rigby since it has the magnum SS action.
Send it to Rigby sand have them do it.
Enlighten me. Why would you do this?

@Flipper Dude- since the rifle has already been re barrelled once by Rigby and it has the magnum action it would be a step up in my opinion. The idea it that you have a proprietary cartridge and rifle maker combo.
A friend of mine in Botswana has a .350 Rigby what his grandfather sent back to Rigby to have it converted to .375 and after a few years sent it back to them to make it a .350 again!

It would seem to me ( having done zero research on the subject) that the 375H&H would offer much more flexibility in a classic African rifle than a much heavier, relatively new 450 Rigby. Especially with the relatively light weight of the rifle in question. I suppose if one was limiting his quarry to buffalo and elephant only, I could see it.

It's not as simple as that.
Although the 350 and 416 are indeed both on magnum Mauser actions, their magazines are a little different. There is a reason you see many of these 350s rebored to 375 as the tapered 375 case fits well in the magazine.
I suppose a conversion to 416/450 is possible but may require a wider, longer or less tapered box and, of course, the 350s were built lighter than the 416s so one converted to 450 would not be manageable for most people.
Nice rifle though and priced right IMO.
