Flying through london

You’re in real trouble if you didn’t use a travel agent. Sorry for what you are going through.

Why?....he already made his first leg and got the gun situation sorted with Virgin in London.

Guess I'm a glass half full guy, sounds like hes got it under control.

Wish I got to tour London today on my way to Africa than here in my office. Bit jealous actually.:)

If everything works out and his rifle case meets him in Joburg with no extra costs incurred, he is quite fortunate. I’ve flown through London before but would do it on British Airways from beginning to end. It’s fairly pain free that way, but other ways tend to incur a lot of trouble.

OH my! Best of luck Travis2282! I’d be lost!

Threads like this make me think I was a goober for going to SA in '15 without trip insurance or using an agent.

I did have Henry help me get through SAPS.

Going to Zim next year I do believe I will be availing myself of some additional expertise in case something goes south!

Best to you Travis - hope it all works out!

Yea they telling me my layover is too long for them to keep it???

This is BS I’ve had a 14 hour layover in Heathrow and never had a problem, luggage check all the way through. You cannot pick up your fire arms at Heathrow you have to hire a bonded carrier to move your firearms.

Well happy to say everything made it to joburg no problems! Henry came through with saps permits and helping me with check in to next flight! I’m waiting on my last flight to take off right now!

That’s awesome! Great hunting!!

If it were me I would have been in a panic too.. If or I should say when I go to Zim I will use Lori just in case of anything. To be honest I ve booked all my flights for over 20 years myself...Or as long as I ve been on the net, from Alaska to NZ and Africa. Glad it went smoothly for ya. Now enjoy your hunt!

There ya go! Used Henry and crew once with a connecting flight and was worth the price.

Have a terrific hunt!

So glad all worked out. My point has always been to use a travel agent for the unforeseen situations that arise. If I’m spending $10,000 or way more for my safari what is $200 to a travel agent? Just my opinion.

Keep all the paperwork with you that the folks in London had to do....that way if you end up going back through there you will have some proof that all is in order.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
